I have SoC but are the others worth the dough anyone?
Blowout fellow stalker?

Yes they are.
I have SoC but are the others worth the dough anyone?
i think CoP is actually a better game
i think CoP is actually a better game
I feel COP is the most accessible but it's also the easiest of the series even with the new AI features like them using grenades but it's still enjoyable even without mods.
Blowout fellow stalker?
Oh really? When?
I have SoC but are the others worth the dough anyone?
buy four copies of all of them
i think CoP is actually a better game
Both are very good. IMO SoC has a better Story, but CoP is less buggy.
Altough the buggy part, can be reduced to some degree by applying the right mod(s). (a vanilla playtrough is highly recommended for the first playtrough)
The STALKER series didn't go on sale at all during the summer sale. I figured it had to do with the death of GSC and THQ, but I guess I was wrong.
Bought STALKER CoP.
I thought this was going on through the STEAM summer sales but it didn't. Glad I saw this when I did.
Love STALKER.
I have never tried any of Stalker games, does it have some kind of freeroam?
I have never tried any of Stalker games, does it have some kind of freeroam?
pretty much the whole game is freeroam, there's parts here and there where it channels you though
Yesyesyesyes I've been waiting for this. I can't believe they didn't do it during the sales.
I have a question: is Shadow of Chernobyl worth it? I have never played any games of this series and can get enough money for that one.
For £2.50 (or your regional equivalent) it's great value. Post apocalyptic free-roaming shooter with (IMO) great gunplay and very few annoyances.
Yes, I think its the best of the series, and the most engrossing. You'll definitely get alot of re playability out of it with all the mods, I'll just warn you if you're going to post in the Megathread for suggestions for mods, taste Vanilla before adding sprinkles
Funny enough, i bought all the stalkers 75% off once.
Never got around to playing them.
I have SoC but are the others worth the dough anyone?
The prequel, Clear Sky, has my favourite faction in it, cool new features and the Swamps are amazing. However, it is EXTREMELY buggy. Save often.
Call of Pripyat is my favourite though.
Always play through them in vanilla first, then add mods to get pretty much infinite missions.
i wish i could get CoP but my card company is putting a hold on my funds on my $5 gift card..
so i have to wait a couple days to get it back
The STALKER series didn't go on sale at all during the summer sale. I figured it had to do with the death of GSC and THQ, but I guess I was wrong.
No, you are right. On Tuesday, the publisher of SoC changed from THQ to GSC Game World. So it has to be something related to GSC and THQ.
I have SoC but are the others worth the dough anyone?
CoP yes, CS maybe.
Call of Pripyat is the best of them but start with SoC > CS > CoP
At this price you owe it to yourself to try it. Typically new players will either hate it or fall unconditionally and irrevocably in love with it, to use the fruitiest possible description.
As for the other games, each one of them have their own perks. Shadow of Chernobyl has the best story and presentation, Clear Sky has some of the most interesting environments, looks and features and CoP is the most stable and polished of the three, having "learned" from the mistakes of the previous two titles. You can't really single out any specific title as being the definite superior one, ideally you should play all three in the order that they were released and make your own conclusions.
SoC is the most absorbing. I finally decided to play SoC last year and just thinking about it makes me want to replay it again. It definitely has the best atmosphere. Clear Sky is only good if you played SoC IMO, but Call of Pripyat is also great, and has better side quests.
Gameplay wise, call of pripyat is the most polished.
SoC isn't fun without mods.
i think CoP is actually a better game
IMO CoP doesn't feel as atmospheric in comparence to SoC.
these games are great, i'd definitely recommend buying them and playing them in release order.
Is it okay to use a mod to get rid of the awful view bobbing for SoC?
Is it okay to use a mod to get rid of the awful view bobbing for SoC?
There is a console command for it, i'm pretty sure it's "cam_inert 0" just type that into the console
Great games, in my opinion Shadow of Chernobyl is the best followed by Call of Pripyat. Definitely worth the money.
I wouldn't say Clear Sky is bad, but it has it's issues and is the "worst" STALKER game.
