Kinda hope the next MoH will flop so the industry can move on already. My playthrough of Black Mesa reminded me I enjoy games a lot more if they don't take themselves too serious.

I don't want specific games to flop but I'd like a move on from the modern warfare theme. Battlefield 4 being announced as a modern title more or less completely killed that series for me and now MoH as well.

It seems we're slowly beginning to move into futuristic shooters.
and yet indie games will become more and more about rehashing a story but with the player taking up a less traditional role. it seems the industry is becoming more and more formulaic everywhere you look.

I wouldn't say so... indie games are almost so diverse it's hard to classify them
Most indie games currently are lame gimmicky retro platformers. Most AAA games are same franchise, cash cows.
It's the dark days of gaming.

all the good indie games do new, interesting stuff, or at least they do old stuff in fun ways. it seems like all the other ones just take a simple game you've played a billion times and tell you to do something you traditionally wouldn't do in a regular game, because that's meant to "turn the entire genre on its head" or something.
