As for the news, got to say, that's a lot of bokeh, blur and lens flare and very little else. The parts without any of those effects makes it look really fucking bland as well, which obviously seems to be the reason they threw effects all over it to try and hide how it doesn't look interesting at all.
Forza 4
The fucked netcode alone makes it amazing
Trackmania probably.
FlatOut 2 with mods and 8 player races was the most amazing thing ever
Forza 4.
Also, I hope it has pit-stops this time around.
Nitronic rush, followed by Double Dash.
Trackmania Canyon.
jesus christ that game looks fast
Burnout Paradise and Sonic/Sega All Stars: Transformed probably tie for me.
Although Burnout 3: Takedown will always have a special place in my heart.
Racedriver GRID, Carmageddon and Midtown Madness 2.
Man, do I want another Midtown Madness game. Or at the very least a remake.
Driver: San Francisco
I just think it's a fantastic reboot, and it knows how silly it is.
F-Zero GX
Burnout Revenge, I never got to play burnout 3 sadly, but revenge was one of the best racing games I've ever played.
Burnout 3/Revenge since they're essentially the same game. Good times with those.
Carmageddon, NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 and Underground 2. GRID was kinda cool, GT5 was nice too.
NFS:HP2. 11 years old and yet the physics still hold up.

You've clearly never watched a TEASER trailer before.
And what do you mean, looked bland? It looked like a racing game. There were cars, on tracks, and they were racing, one of them crashed. I'm not sure what you are expecting, but I don't think you play racing games either.

Anyway,
rFactor.
I still want to try Project Cars, but haven't had the chance to buy it yet.
Carmageddon,
I would have said Carmageddon, but I don't even consider it a racing game, since I very rarely beat a level by actually racing.
Trackmania Nations (Forever)
Rollcage stage II
It's hard for me to chose a best of since they're all special in their own way but these are my top favorites:
Gran Turismo 5
Need for Speed: High Stakes
Carmageddon (Hard to call a racing game though)
And then there's Mario Cart, but playing against the AI usually results in kittens being found dead in alleyways (FUCK YOU PEACCHHHH)

It stands head and shoulders above over driving games for me for just that reason.
