i'm glad the UI for the PS4 and XB1 aren't fucking garbage this gen, because navigating both the ps3 and the 360's most recent uis gave me a major migrane.

I miss the blades from the launch 360. That worked well I thought.
Should've known Xbox Live would still be an utter bitch, and even worse if it interrupts the game to keep pestering you with Gold advertisements because "HEY YOU GOT THESE GAME CLIPS IT AUTOMATICALLY CAPTURES, TOO BAD YOU CAN'T DO SHIT WITH THEM UNLESS YOU BUY GOLD TODAY"
christ fuck
Plot Twist, from the reviews I have seen so far the Xbox One is slightly more favorably received.
I am not sure what to think about the two consoles, but this is a far cry from "Xbone sucks get the PS4" we have been hearing since its announcement.
I guess they aren't as Anti-Xbone as their reviews made me think.

That's if you trust the sources reviewing the Xbox One.

Nice to see Kotaku, of all sites, concluding with "Not Yet" for either console. At least they're consistent.

I'm not sure where you are reading but I have yet to see anything that has shone the PS4 in a bad light.

So far Polygon is the only major review and they're hardly impartial. They took $750,000 from Microsoft to build the site. Hell, they've even been called the most disreputable site in the gaming press.
That said, the xbo seems like a good system. I'm sure the people who want one will be pretty happy!

The PS3 has always had the XMB, what was the problem with that?
I'm fairly sure I'm gonnna miss the XMB.

this reviewer seems to think that dodgy voice commands and dvr control is worth $100 extra and needing a gold account for pretty much everything (and getting spammed with ads if you don't)
honestly I was interested to see how the xbox turned out after their big turn around on the more ridiculous issues but so far I'm not impressed

Never meant to imply the PS4 was bad. Not trying to start anything. More reviews can come out and skew things in one direction over the other, but it is a lot more even than I thought it would be.
Not going to get either console for a while yet. I don't feel compelled by either.

There is no reason to only read one review for the One. I read Polygon's and their 0.5 difference over the PS4 does not exactly enrage me with accusations of being biased, but if the getting money from Microsoft thing is true...
but if the getting money from Microsoft thing is true...
It's true. They were even the subject of a documentary presented by Internet Explorer about creating the site.
(And they've still got Internet Explorer banner ads up at the moment.)
Bumping up the xbo review score is hardly an issue though.
It's got more to do in the launch window than play the same launch titles in multi, and that's pretty rad.
Not bad. Too bad there aren't any games I want being released on the Xbox.
Not bad. Too bad there aren't any games I want being released on the Xbox.
There's not a single game I'm remotely interested in on either tbh, in my opinion despite the consoles being the most feature packed of all time their launch lineups are both disappointingly boring and generic. It's basically this, for both consoles:

Launch titles are always sparse. Also, the consoles have expanded into being more than being about games, so that the whole 'underwhelming launch games' doesn't really matter.

That's more what they're trying to force upon you. People really wanted great games at launch, but the multimedia platform is what they're focussed on.

I don't see how you can call it being forced. It's an obvious expansion of what it means to buy and have a console as a multi-media platform, to appeal to the casual gamer and their family who do more than play games with their entertainment system.
Launch titles are always hit n' miss, that's just how launches is work. Hyped expectations have to deal with small development times means a smaller pool of releases at the start of the console life. I'd say the immediate releases aren't that bad, and upcoming releases are only going to get better.
This has been arguably the most promising console launch I've seen.
Also about backwards compatibility, its not really feasible to do anymore, you would have to put the hardware of not only the new console but the one you want it to be backwards compatible with in it.

... if you're really craving a new system now — or need something to bring home to the kids — the Xbox One is your best bet.

"Forza Motorsport 5," the latest auto racing simulator from Microsoft's Turn 10 Studios, takes full advantage of the Xbox One's graphic oomph. You can see the attention to detail in every car. From the driver's seat, you can read every instrument on the dashboard. The beauty extends to the gorgeous environments, from the Bernese Alps to the streets of Prague to famous racetracks like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

I'm in the waiting camp, but I think I'll probably be picking up a PS4 over an Xbox One. Why? Because I don't have cable, so none of the TV stuff appeals to me, and all my friends are getting PS4s. I tend to stick with the racing games, and the Playstation's been largely historically better in that regard... I prefer GT to Forza, but they're both great.
Surprisingly, it's not the Xbox Live costs that bother me. I guess my biggest issue with the One is the proprietary hard drives.
As for the "Xbox One is underpowered! Just look at Ghosts!", Ghosts was a horrible port on all systems. It doesn't surprise me it couldn't take full advantage of the hardware, it probably wasn't built for it. Developers will mature, games will look better with time. Anybody remember last gen's launch titles?
it means that your offline single-player game will be constantly interrupted with an advertisement to get Gold.
This shit will not fly.
I also won't pay a monthly fee to do more than offline gaming and Blurays.
I'll just stick to my PS3 and Cable box until more games come out for either the Wii U or PS4.
Remember, both consoles this gen have a mandatory service charge, and both cost about the same. Without PS+, you can only play offline games and blu-rays. No online, no streaming.
Sony gives out free games, though, so that's a bonus.
Meanwhile, Sony outlined what features you can access without a PlayStation Plus membership.
You can access entertainment, film and TV services without Plus, but you'll need to subscribe separately to individual services.
You can also send gameplay video and screenshots to Facebook, and screenshots to Twitter, and livestream gameplay via Ustream or Twitch without a Plus sub.
You don't need a Plus sub to play PS4 games remotely using the Vita, either.
Also available without a Plus sub:
Comparing Trophy data with other users.
Sending and receiving text messages from other users.
PlayStation Store access (users must pay to purchase premium content, obviously).
Live item, activity feeds on Dynamic Menu.
Party (cross game voice chat).
Web browser.
PlayStation App services (on iOS/Android devices).
Certain titles built on a free-to-play model will not require PlayStation Plus for multiplayer functionality in North America. This list currently includes Blacklight Retribution, DC Universe Online, and War Frame in North America.
Apparently ps4 has been getting mixed reviews while xbox been mostly favorable.

What if those reviewers were paid by Microsoft to give a good review?
What if those reviewers were paid by Microsoft to give a good review?
So the only logical explanation that x1 had been getting better reviews is because Microsoft is paying them? Not because it might actually be a better console?
Welp, you sure had me fooled
Neither of them got 10.5
Xbox One hasn't even hit the streets yet, so the reviews are going to be distorted until then.
Which ever the case it really comes down to personal preference, if you want an all in one entertainment center then Xbox is for you. If you just want to play games then the PS4 is just fine.

The PS4 had spectacular reception before it came out, too.
