• Wondering what sorts of CPUs would be compatible with my MOBO. Help?
    12 replies, posted
The motherboard's model is an Acer RS740DVF. I've been looking into upgrading my processor from a dual-core AMD Athlon 64 (X2) Processor (around 2.3~ gHz) to an AMD Athlon II (X2 250) (around 3.0 gHz). What I'm wondering is whether or not the new CPU will actually fit into my motherboard, and whether or not it's a worthy upgrade to make. That processor will not work. You have a socket AM2 motherboard which isn't used anymore. If you want a decent upgrade you'll have to get a new motherboard and possibly ram.

Not that'll be worth the money
Pepper;36808879']Why are you telling OP to get a CPU that performs worse than the one he has?
Um no, 2.8Ghz Pentium D is better than a 2.3Ghz AMD Athlon 64 X2. Pentium Ds are pretty damn good processors, they even overclock well. Also it is upgrade-able. It is even socket 775 so he could upgrade to a better CPU. Next time you should give proof to why it is a bad deal before you just shoot me down.
You should upgrade motherboard, cpu and ram

This is 2012, not 2007, 775 is dead. [editline]18th July 2012[/editline] Tell us your budget, where you are and what you will use the PC for and we'll point you to the right hardware. Don't forget to mention what manufacturer and model your current PC is. [editline]18th July 2012[/editline] Is this your PC? Can i have current Specs(Speccy, get it Here) what would be your budget to upgrade?
