So... I've finally worn down my father to getting a PC... I asked him the budget... He said 3k
I plan to hook up to an 50 plasma if we can keep it from burning in
likewise.. we have a 5.1 system downstairs for it
So... Like the topic suggests... Help me make a Gaming PC that makes Steve Jobs cry!
I favor Intel and Nvidia for their software... but I'm fine with anything with better cost/performance.

Actually, iBuyPower is a big ripoff
Wait for a bit until the 5xxx's and i9's come out THEN you can make Steve Jobs cry.
@lewisdacool3
PM me your joke next time... I actually liked it, But I need serious advice
@zycos How long till they deploy?
Build it yourself.

Hurr.
You might just look around the web and compare.

I think sometime this month for the 5xxx's I can't remember an exact date, I have no clue about the i9s though.
Get a PC for 1500$ and get new PC for 1500$ in 1-2 years. You will have a really great PC now and a muuuuuuuuch better PC in 1-2 years.
build it, get more for your money.
and for that budget you can easily get a very nice monitor
5000s come out in a few days time IIRC
@zycos 5000s yes but I doubt an i9 is necessary for general gaming
Wait a few weeks and you could get a 5870X2, that would make anybody cry in envy.
EDIT: Hell, get 2 in crossfire if you really want to spend every penny.

This man is correct, in 2-4 years, a modern killer build will be shit, i.e. in 2004/5 a 6800 was the shit, now it is shit.
Alright... Ill try that instead
in that case How about your favorite 1500 setups?

Why an i9 when very few games even effectively support quad cores?
i5 should be way more than enough for anyone just gaming
i9 is too fucking fast lol have you seen the latest benchmarks? Is it really worth that much extra money for the hype? Op get what maxolina posted but I'm iffy on that motherboard.
I'd suggest http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188051
Or the non-micro atx version http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188046

Why in the world would you go micro atx?
Because it's cheap and has all of the features of the regular Classified except one missing PCI Express slot.

Full tower + better cooling and excellent brand
And I suggest the 1366 socket, so he can upgrade to the i9 in a few years........
1156 is going to be the new intel mid end socked, while 1366 the high-enthusiast one..
