I just installed Windows 7 x64 2 days ago. Now it takes around 10 minutes to start up. Once it starts, explorer freezes when I try to move any icons or anything. It was completely fine last night. I left it on overnight, went to use it, and it froze after I tried to do anything. Also, it updated overnight.
I have a similar issue with my boot of Windows XP (which I'm on now)
If I try to go to My Computer, Explorer freezes. If I click Start, explorer freezes. I am running a virus scan right now, but I highly doubt that is why it's doing it.
Safe mode also takes an extremely long time to load. I have my comp in W7 now and clicked on CCleaner to try and start it. Nothing yet. Just the blue wheel next to the pointer.
And when I right click and save as in FireFox, that freezes as well.
EDIT:
Im looking at my Device Manager and it says drivers for the Coprocessor are missing, from what I gather thats my MOBO?
Post full computer specs, please.
Processor: AMD Phenom II X3 720 OC'ed to 3.4Ghz
GPU: nVidia GeForce 260
MoBo: ECS 8200a
RAM: 2GB Wintec (thinking it may be going bad?)
PS: hec HP585D
EDIT:
Got it fixed. Not sure what fixed it, but some of the things I did before it got fixed were:
Update graphics drivers
Run CCleaner
Defrag
Not sure which fixed it, but theres some things people with similar issues can try.
