Here are some tips (some of them comedic) on how to be an active, and well informed member of this forum! (There's like, 14 of us)
Feel free to post your tips. I'll put valid tips on the main post.
1. Expect the dumbest, most uneducated, reactionary comments to any and ALL threads you make, no exception. Even the most innocuous threads WILL erupt in stupid banter. Just ignore them, pretend they're bots.
2. Makes sure to let people know when you're being sarcastic, because of the above tip. People will believe what you just said was -actually- your opinion.
3. Post counts do not matter. Ratings do not matter.
4. There is a secret hidden point system for the number of replies you get in your threads. So, for maximum points, you should make 'type random letters' threads every day, at least twice. /sarcasm
5. You are not 4chan.
6. A long time ago, this forum was about Garry's Mod. Really!
7. Facepunch will get dumber, but it will never be as dumb as youtube comments (but only because they get dumber too)
8. While join date does not matter, it is a good way to tell the validity of someone's post (saddly.) I wish this wasn't true but it is. This is only an average though, a statistical average. an 05'er is STATISTICALLY more likely to make an intelligent post, than an 09'er. Accept it, we all went through it (Well, 07 and above)
9. Think about WHY you're making a thread, before you make a thread. Then figure out how to make that thread fit your needs. Say, for me, if I want to get people interested in a game I'm playing, I'm going to make a high content megathread about it.
10. You will get banned. It happens to all of us. I've been banned countless times, and permabanned once. Don't worry about it. It's part of the learning process. It used to be a lot meaner, but times have changed.
11. Every time you rate a mod dumb, he cries. You're actually defeating him with pixels. Law of the universe, believe me.
12. In a fast thread, just say exactly what everyone else says. It's funnier when more people say the same thing.
13. If it's a big thread, ALWAYS post before reading anything. Heck, if you wanna be super cool, don't even read the front page, just skim the title. It's how some of us became mods. Law of the universe, believe me.
14. Don't listen to the OP. - Yellowoboe

25. Just like the rest of the internet, nasty stuff will appear. The difference between normal FP and OIFYis that on the OIFY, they don't get banned for it and you are guaranteed to find it.
