I'm currently in the process of putting together a gaming rig for myself, after the motherboard on my old PC kicked the bucket i'm going to do something that I like to call a "hot build" as in, transfer all the working parts from my old PC into my new one, and then replace the parts with new ones as I acquire them. Planned final specs: 2x WD Caviar Green 1TB SATA 64MB cache + the 186GB HDD from my old PC Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz 8MB LGA1366 ASUS INTEL X58 LGA1366 Core i7 DDR3 ATX *W3 ASUS Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E Rocketfish 900-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply (To be eventually replaced with a Corsair TX Series 750W Power Supply) OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000 Gold 6GB Triple Channel Kit LG 8X Blu-ray burner/DVD-RW SATA w/Lightscribe Microsoft Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit Cooler Master HAF 932 So far I have the PSU, case, CPU and optical drive. After I get the motherboard i'll take the HDD, GPU, network card, and sound card out of my old PC and install it in this build for the time being. Pic of what i've got so far: [img_thumb]http://www.cubeupload.com/files/63d600img18571.jpg[/img_thumb]
why a 930? don't they still 920s? If so... well.. you know what to do. replace PSU with Corsair 750W edit: mini ATX board? err.. just get a regular ATX board, you have a HAF-932. no worries.
$15 for 133 MHz really isn't worth it.

Already bought the power supply, with the motherboard though i'm looking for something with the best bang for my buck and still compatible with the 930. And from these guys since that's who i'm buying from due to them having a retail store 10 minutes away from where I live: http://pccyber.com/?v=Home
ye pardon my bad reading
Oh by the way, I keep hearing that if I install a hard drive that already has data on it onto a new motherboard i'll lose all the data, is this true?
not that I know of. I do this with a lot with my systems with no problems, however, I do uninstall drivers that could possibly conflict (such as GPU drivers, motherboard drivers)

what the hell do you need 900W for
A little off topic... but do you do zomb?
A little off topic... but do you do zomb?
Nope, unfortunately. Also the 900W is for when I put another graphics card in.
Rocketfish 900-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply
oh dear don't get that, get a decent brand unless you want your build to become a very decorate useless object
So far I have the PSU
oh well, enjoy your doorstop
Nope, unfortunately. Also the 900W is for when I put another graphics card in.
you'd have to scrap your 5870 for two 5970s to use 900w
you'd have to scrap your 5870 for two 5970s to use 900w
5970 is $600, i'm not made of money. :/ Anywho, i'm open for suggestions as what Motherboard I should get, as long as it's under $300 CDN
So much overpricedness, I'm just gonna leave this topic with my hand on my forehead.

It's always best to Reformat when you get a new system and throw a old HDD in it.
He meant that you need to have two 5970's to actually utilize all of that power.
Ah, okay. I'll probably get a better PSU once I can afford it anyways, the 900W one will have to suffice for now. Edit:OP updated and such
