Hey guys. I just need some ideas for cheap servers i can get off of ebay. I am going to be running dedicated servers off the server, but only 1 or 2 at a time at most. I just need some suggestions. And a preferabbly with the OS already installed if you dont mind.
Why is ebay your only option?
Im 16. I dont have a job yet. I will this summer but thats a ways away. I am money limited right now.
I doubt you'd be able to run two instances of srcds on a cheap ass server you found on ebay. What budget and games are we talking about here?
dont worry about the budget. probably 1 Garrys Mod Sandbox game, and 1 CSS deathrun game?
How good is your internet connection?
through 1 ethernet cable? 20MB/s. I would be happy if i could just run a gmod game.

don't buy it off ebay
What budget we talking here.
on that speedtest thing it is.... 1.85 mbits download 3.09 mbits upload ping 73 ms The server the test used was in the same town as high my highschool so as you can guess, its pretty close. budget can only be a couple hundred dollars.
Why not just build one, like just get a shuttle bare-bones case and build from there. You could also make one out of the Asus nettop. http://promos.asus.com/US/eblast/EeeBox/index.html

I forgot to mention that that is the wireless connection. The wired one is listed as.... 32 mb/s. Don't run a server on a wireless connection. Honestly with those speedtest results you might as well use the money renting a server instead of buying one. That way you're guaranteed uptime, speed and technical support.
Why not just build one, like just get a shuttle bare-bones case and build from there. The Atom processor is just simply too weak for game servers.
What is your budget?
budget is 300$ and under . and it wont be wireless it will be hooked up to ethernet cable which is 100 mbps speed. at least thats what is says when its plugged in.

Save up some more. 300 and under isn't even good for a computer in general, let alone a server.
Renting a server would be a hell of a lot better.
