I put a new dvd drive in my computer and when I booted just after the bios posted I got an error saying "invalid 'something' boot partition" I know that isn't very helpful but I cant remember the exact error this was a few hours ago. After this happened I rebooted and got the same error. So I unplugged the dvd drive and booted up my pc again. Same error again. I was a bit worried at first and then decided to google the problem. Not much luck, so I decided to strip down my pc untill it booted.
I unplugged my other dvd drive and booted, had no luck. took out my harddrive and then my graphics card started acting up. Three lights we blinking off and on and the fan was 100% and after about 10-15 seconds the mobo give a beep code, 1 long beep then 3 short ones (You've probably just added memory to the motherboard since this is a conventional or extended memory failure. Generally this is caused by a memory chip that is not seated properly. Reseat the memory chips).
Annoying thing is it was working fine. I took out the graphics card, so all I now have in is the mobo, cpu and psu and ram. I'm not sure what to think is causing this. Could you guys give me some advice on what to do?
Forgot to add my specs;
E8500 Stock clock
ATI 4870 1gb
4gb ddr2 800mhz
Asus p5n-e sli
I had the exact same problem. My specs are the same. For me, i had about 5 or 6 successful boots, and then finally, it just said 'uncorrectable hardware error, and then it just stopped working. If i had any idea what did this, i will respond. until now, i can just operate off my iphone.
Boot partition is associated with the hard drive
its the hard drive and graphics card playing up.
