Yep, basically I want to Jailbreak my 2G (2.2.1) using redsn0w but I'm unsure if it will delete my music. Can you guys confirm it?
Yes, but it should be synced with itunes anyway so it'll automatically put it back on afterwards.
Yeah, that's what I'm not sure about, the songs are only on my iPod, and not on the computer.
If you're having problems rip them from the ipod onto itunes again.
It doesn't.
Yes it will, Well At least other Jailbreaks did
If you're having problems rip them from the ipod onto itunes again.
How?
And now second question, redsn0w is asking me for the IPSW files, but I can't find them. I know the path to it and I read up on google that iTunes 9 deletes ISPW files. Is there any other way I can find them?
Definitely DON'T google search iPod touch firmware files, and if you accidentally do, don't click the second link, ok?
Um it does not delete music. That was the old method where you had to restore it with the custom firmware.
Here you are! http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
Also, if any of you guys ever want to take music off of an iPod or iPhone, which iTunes won't let you do, you can always use CopyTrans Manager.
Definitely DON'T google search iPod touch firmware files, and if you accidentally do, don't click the second link, ok?
Why?
Why?
He's being incredibly sarcastic.
Why would jailbreaking your iPod remove your music from iTunes? Sure, you'll lose your music and apps on your iPod but if you select a backup you made you can easily restore your apps back on. If the backup didn't restore your apps, you'll just need a good memory on what apps you downloaded. It remembers which ones you bought before, so it shouldn't be a big trouble. But I'm not sure what happens if you make a completely new iPod? Will I lose my app data (I think my account holds what apps I bought) and will I lose my networks? I can't remember my dad's network password.
For apps, you could click on Transfer Purchases when you right-click on the iPhone in iTunes. It will copy the applications to your PC. To get them back onto a fresh iPod/iPhone, just drag and drop, given that you've selected to manually manage files.
