"I don't want to play a TDM to 500 kills or a conquest to 700 tickets," one commenter voiced onp
Then don't? I don't see the problem here. "oh no I won't get 1 or 2 ribbons because I didn't finish the round"
After not having played Battlefield 3 for a month or two, I come back to find servers, with the likes of no 12 year old noobs, only pros, leet gamers. People need to grow the fuck up.
They should just add a vanilla filter for servers that adhere to certain customization rules.
Then don't? I don't see the problem here. "oh no I won't get 1 or 2 ribbons because I didn't finish the round"
the point is they CAN'T. Read the article.
Then don't? I don't see the problem here. "oh no I won't get 1 or 2 ribbons because I didn't finish the round"
umm most people don't want to play 3 hour rounds.
I am finding it impossible to find a conquest match with anything less that 700 tickets.
So that's how the console server renting works then...the servers are all "DICE" servers until someone rents them. Kinda cool actually, that way there will always be servers to play on. But they really should consider adding a "vanilla" filter.
I love doing good and being kicked before the round ends for "Suspicious" or something like that. This game has some of the worst admins I've ever seen, on pretty much every server.
Is it me or the game is dieing? Even BF2 looks more populated.
so why the heck do i have to buy a server to host a game? why cant i just host a game from my own damn computer
Put your shit together DICE.
so why the heck do i have to buy a server to host a game? why cant i just host a game from my own damn computer
It was the same case with Bad Company 2 until someone leaked the server files.
So basically they want to take out official servers and get players to pay for servers. Fuck you EA.
so why the heck do i have to buy a server to host a game? why cant i just host a game from my own damn computer
people get less money that way
Is it me or the game is dieing? Even BF2 looks more populated.
Battlefield 2 has dedicated server software so that any given user can host his/her own server. Battlefield 3 you must pay for it and your options are limited by what DICE allows you to do.
Games companies are getting ridiculous these days, charging the player for everything...
Then don't? I don't see the problem here. "oh no I won't get 1 or 2 ribbons because I didn't finish the round"
It'd be allright in a game like battlefield 2, where there were pretty much no destruction, only a barrel and roadblock here n there. If you've every played say, caspian border on 1000 ticket server, you'd notice it's nigh impossible as infantry 600 tickets and on if there are competent people in vehicles.
It's a funny system. Pay 30 Bucks for 30 Days in order to rent that Server. Which means 360 Bucks a year. Plus 10 Dollar Online-Pass. I somehow imagine EA being some kind of bandit by now.

so after a month with out bf3 i go to server browser all i fucking saw was OMG 70000 TICKETS METRO 24/7 NO RPG etc etc etc why i cant have a normal server ! WHY!
Thats really cheap. It takes a nice CPU to run BF3 server.
Yet they still deny to release dedicated server files to the general public.
Yet they still deny to release dedicated server files to the general public.
Because ranking is at risk. You can apply for a trusted server host just as you could do with BF2 at EA.
Because ranking is at risk. You can apply for a trusted server host just as you could do with BF2 at EA.
Fuck that, I wanna dick around with the server files and enjoy hilarious mods. Ranking can suck my dick as long as I get said freedom.
Fuck that, I wanna dick around with the server files and enjoy hilarious mods. Ranking can suck my dick as long as I get said freedom.
Default weapons without optics can get pretty boring 24/7. Frostbite doesent support mods because the engine can't handle it.

Frostbite doesent support mods because the engine can't handle it.
I'm sorry but if you even believe that there is a reason for that other then trying to avoid community made mods (See BF2's Project reality) is a technical limitation and not a management one then you are naive.
How about private severs where the server can ask about player but cannot send info to EA. Aka read only. Sure you won't level up on that server, but you won't be using default gear.
I'm sorry but if you even believe that there is a reason for that other then trying to avoid community made mods (See BF2's Project reality) is a technical limitation and not a management one then you are naive.
That mod sucks and the engine can't do it because of version patching. This is why patches are 4GB each :P
Battlefield 2 has dedicated server software so that any given user can host his/her own server. Battlefield 3 you must pay for it and your options are limited by what DICE allows you to do.
I remember when BF3 server software was leaked back in the beta. People actually had a lot more fun with RPG no reload servers and such.. You know, having some fun in a game with lots of wacky settings, not realistic shooter all the time.
Because ranking is at risk. You can apply for a trusted server host just as you could do with BF2 at EA.
So your argument against the releasing of dedicated server files is because some people give a shit about rankings? If someone cares about their rank, they won't join that kind of server anyways. You can say the same about TF2 and how idle servers risk the "item economy," but those of us who don't give a fuck don't join those servers and play the game normally. This is only hurting the game more. [editline]12th May 2012[/editline]
That mod sucks and the engine can't do it because of version patching. This is why patches are 4GB each :P
"I dislike a particular mod, therefore no one should be allowed to use mods."
