Yeah I haven't disk defragged in a long time and no matter how many times I do it, it never fixes all those red files >_<

Also sometimes, the amount of free space is proportional to how many it can defrag properly.
15gb free is pretty much the bare minimum for a defrag pass. Personally, i would double that to 30%.
Gather as many memory sticks and external hard drives as you can and transfer some files to those things
Defrag when you have around 30% of your drive free otherwise it will just take ages
Use defraggler
