I don't get why people hate this so much.
Even if it's not a horror game that much anymore it's still a solid TPS.
edit: And the coop's pretty fun too.

Thats the issue, its just a TPS.
This is a good game if you forget everything about it being a Resident Evil

it's nothing special though. It's generic and bland for TPS fans and drives Resident Evil fans insane because of how much it differs from the original games. No-one wins here. :v:
Yeah, I mean I liked RE6 quite a bit, but it's still by far the most disappointing title in the main series. Hopefully Capcom learns their lesson and gets it right with the inevitable seventh entry.
What a shame looks like there won't be an RE2 remake.
ive never played a resident evil

I've only played the fifth one.
It was shit.
i hope this makes them realize that they are going to shit with this game

I wouldn't say solid. The controls are not nearly smooth enough to justify putting enemies who shoot back at you or have PvP. But it's definitely way better than the controls for all the games before 4.
Hopefully now they will understand that they should go back to what made RE games actually good.

"I don't get why [imaginary Half Life sequel] is hated so much, sure it's not a Half Life game and is more of a racing poker guitar hero clone but it's solid!"
There are these people called fans, they matter because they buy stuff, with money, that might be something of interest to a firm like Capcom
lmao i remember when capcom said they exoected resi6 to be their best selling game.
this is what happens when you try catering to another audience.

That's a very optimistic way to look at it. There were so many tasteful ways that this franchise could have been innovated while respecting the games that came before it. Unfortunately, that's not how it happened, and I'm stuck playing Resident Evil 2, Code Veronica, and Outbreak.
Since I mentioned Outbreak, I might as well add that Outbreak was a prime example of how you innovate without breaking the fundamentals. The camera angles were softened with some rotation, online co-op, great puzzle solving scenarios, characters had their own advantages/traits, multitude of items to use, and difficulties changed item placement and scenario puzzles. A lot of people overlook the game, but it was probably the best RE game to drop before RE4.
I would so buy a HD Outbreak collection
Not surprised tbh.
More horror and puzzles, less shooty. If only they'd do so...
I quite liked the first part of leons section in the city, it felt a little bit like RE2 what with having actual zombies again and all the people getting eaten and ruined streets..
But ultimately it just made me want to see a RE2 remake more.
I bet they wont do a remake of the old games because of the same reason Square Enix wont do a remake of FF7: people wouldn't buy anything else anymore after having what they have asked for since consoles and games evolved past the PS1.
That + their need to make an actiony RE game every now and again, trying to please a different audience...
It's sad really... I remember RE2 having this heavy, claustrophobic and terrifying atmosphere, walking around the halls of the RPD, with bodies everywhere, boarded up hallways and windows, blood everywhere. All of that through a rather dark game (since it was...night)
It was pretty spooky.
Fuck I want to play it again, but puzzles in that game are actually hard. Shit isn't marked at all, you could miss items really easily.
I really love how they straight up ripped off the "click left stick to reveal holographic laser trail to your destination" thing from Dead Space.

Dead Space wasn't the first game to invent that you know.
I played the demo for this and it was extremely disappointing. I don't care if it's not scary or whatever, I care that the actual game is fun to play.
I really hate to say this but I had much more fun in Mass Effect 3, Warhammer 40k space marine (which was actually a decent game :P )etc etc. The basics of the game were just terribly done.
I'll try the demo in co-op and I'm hoping that helps me change my mind on this game because I really really do want to like it. I thought RE:5 was fun :P

It's a shame really, for a long time I've just desired a remake treatment for RE2 and RE3, the same way the original Resident Evil game got as an exclusive Gamecube title. That was a fantastic remake in every possible way, and the visuals are still appealing when I look at it now.
I'm almost disgusted Capcom refuses to acknowledge the idea, or consider doing it even as a possible throwback. The closest thing to a 'remake' of Resident Evil 2 was probably the Chronicles series, Darkside I think? But that's not even close to being the same.
They're stuck on trying to appeal to a 'broader' audience; the Western audience, and I don't know why they can't see it's not going to work for long if they keep steering in this direction.
I bet if they do "HD" their old games, it'll be that cheap, ripoff crap where all they do is upscale the resolution of the game, and then just charge full price. Hell, the only developers I've seen do it right so far are Croteam with the Serious Sam series.
Out of the entire game, the Leion & Helena sections are the closest to the orignal RE's, to a degree, but even then, you have to deal with an annoying "i have something super important but i'll tell you later", annoyingly super duper emotional and idiotic sidekick, and what actually happens is so contrived, forced and predictable. You're escaping on a bus? Oh you're gonna hit a zombie in the road i bet, oh, whats that, you did? now I bet you're going to crash, go up in flames and everyone except the protagonists dies. Pretty much every twist to the events unfolding, I saw coming, which isn't fun.
Chris's campaign is kinda fun, but limted by the clunky controls, Melee int he game is kinda awkward and with enemies running up to you to hit you, gets annoying. and the bigger BOW fights are pretty boring PRetty much shoot it in places till it drops..
Sherry's Campaign is, I dunno, kinda a mixed bag, theres a lot of set pieces, but they kinda border ont he ridiculous (also, whoever decided to have a whiteout in chapter two, i fucking hate you, limiting vision can be scary, but utterly whiting it out, fucking boring)
I wish they would completely remove the coop aspect, it's neat but not worth it. They should focus on better campaigns instead of trying to make them coop-ish.
ive never played a resident evil
You should play RE4, it's probably the best one
Knowing the fact that this is a Resident Evil game hurts. At least Silent Hill has stuck to its roots.
