• Will a Core 2 Duo 8500 fit in my PC?

Hello there My work is selling a Core 2 Duo 8500 real cheap so I thought I'd take the oppurtunity. I spoke with a workmate and he said the only issue I could have is that it would not be compatible with my mobo. I'll post my speccy below and I pulled this motherboard out of a Dell Inspiron 530. If someone could let me know if it will work if I install the new CPU that would be great :) Cheers bs
Yes. But unless you have it for less than 40$, I think you should stop reviving that thing and buy a new computer...
It'll fit but frankly, you might as well get a new one.

Keep an eye out for a Core 2 Quad, those are still more than usable.
Yeah we don't have any of them. Basically I tested and pulled apart about 30 odd old PC's and catalogued them. We do have a lot of Core 2 Duo's, AMD Athlon's and Intel Pentiums but not much else.
The G33 chipset used on that motherboard supports up to an E8600 and a Q9650. Though just because the chipset supports those processors, doesn't mean the motherboard will. Dell likes to nerf their motherboards to force people to buy new machines rather than upgrade, but $20 is worth the risk of it not working since E8500s go for $100+ on Ebay.
