Apparently there's only 76.000 people on the planet. Seems I have been about about 6.999.924.000 off.. Close enough. (I may give this a try some time)
what's next, is this dude going to talk about how he enjoys long walks in the park, and his opinion on puppies
I'd say it's the same principle behind every ''casual'' game you get these days ( e.g. Candy Crush Saga ). It lures you into playing it with the promise of quick fun for when you're bored/on break/whatever, without the need to invest hours into a game. The freemium model is just a side effect of having this kind of gameplay, imo, as the target audience of these games doesn't really care about working hard in order to get past some boss/level or to buy some powerup.
It's Cookie Clicker, of course a lot of people will play it. Then people understood that you could make money from Cookie Clicker. Thus we have Adventure Capitalist, Clicker Heroes, Hero Clickers, Clicker this, clicker that, tapiditt tapidatt. Cookie Clicker games are fun because they give a sense of continuous progress, you have to keep managing upgrades and constantly weighing in when an upgrade is worth having now, or if waiting for the more expensive one is better. The difference between making a million or a billion can just be a few upgrades a way, and producing millions when you could make billions is a huge loss. It just keeps you engaged in the simplest of ways. "Make sure the number gets bigger and consider the value of the upgrades" Then as with most casual games you hit a certain point where you just stop, be it because it bores you, progress gets too slow or you realize it's dumb.
My finger hurts now.
I remember playing this on newgrounds for a while. I'm disappointed that they've added microtransactions to be quite honest.
The people that play this and the blob game are the same people saying that mobile gaming totally isn't the future
Lal not touching that with a 10 feet pole.
The people that play this and the blob game are the same people saying that mobile gaming totally isn't the future
I play shit like this, but there's no fucking chance I'd ever spend money on anything like this.
I play shit like this, but there's no fucking chance I'd ever spend money on anything like this.
All of the things you can buy in Adventure Capitalist, except for the gold suit, are things you can get by just adjusting the clock on the phone (haven't tried the pc version so dunno if that works there). Which honestly speaks a ton for the value of those kind of microtransactions. I know the same can (could?) be done with Candy Crush and many other games that sell time. It's quite horrible that paying for time (in many cases, in order to even play at all) is an accepted standard in mobile gaming.
some kind of phenomenon with its own Reddit page.
holy crap it's own Reddit page!? Sign me up
The game has only been out five days and it’s already some kind of phenomenon with its own Reddit page.
Clicker Heroes is actually pretty old already but it is pretty awesome. A lot of depth to the whole ascension part and passive summons.
