So basically like the new dreamfall? Lame
If they do this right, this is going to be quite the year long event.
So basically like the new dreamfall? Lame
But Hitman looks good.
Sounds like it's going from beta, to alpha, to release.
They're trying to keep people interested for longer than the average single player game generally would. By not releasing the entire game at once, people can play theough chunks, take those chunks in, digest them, and be ready for more when the developer releases ot - and repeat.
Also what's great about this is that if the first couple of levels they release are ass, then hopefully they will be able to listen to the community's criticisms and can try and change what's wrong with their level design.

This still confuses the hell out of me, but hopefully they stick to their word and you only have to pay once for the content. They also said the launch content alone will be worth the $60, but who knows.
I had some webm but cant find it of "someone" (either QA or some lucky alpha tester) who went through just 1 of the levels in the alpha, had a big white line across the middle of the screen(to hide the watermark thats supposed to find leakers) Sped it up to 8x I think and the place was fucking MASSIVE and filled with people(and places without people), was some giant fucking palace. It took the webm awhile to fully go through at 8x speed. It had 4 floors, and I think 3 of them were largely the same size, along with a big outdoor area, 1 floor was a basement. Was WAY bigger than anything in Blood Money, and far more impressive people wise and detail wise than Absolution. Has a definite artstyle to it, its trying to be less "real" looking than Absolution, dont know the best word to describe it but its looking less real and gritty, for a more clean but extravagant look, but it looks great. Its seemed like legit Thief 2 levels of huge, and anyone who has played those knows most Thief 2 levels are 1-3 hours long. Most up to 2 hours. If they release an update every other week from December 8th to ill say Febuary 1st, then I see this shit working really well for a game like this only due to how it plays. You are thrown into 1 giant open ended level that can take multiple hours each, thats a rather long time for a single mission in a stealth game. That said, id really only defend a hitman/thief style "Drop into giant zone and do long mission" gameplay for this type of sales practice. Otherwise I think it would be a huge ripoff and I REALLY do not want this to become the norm.

The content on December 8th is limited in amount, but fully completed and polished and that initial content will not be updated. Other downloads and events will be available in the future free of charge, both story and non story missions. It's not "episodic", because they are not selling them as episodes (the term episodic is appropriate when considering it like a TV show, but not appropriate when comparing it to games like The Walking Dead and RE: Revelations 2 because those episodes each cost money) That's what I gathered from the article

I reckon what they're wanting to achieve here is massive, content filled levels, like the one we've had peaks at through leaks. These levels will probably take a while to build and that's why we'll receive some at release, and more as they're finished. Here's the webm by the way, highly recommend a look at it if you're shifty about this: http://webmshare.com/play/PzQR0 As you can see it's absolutely massive and full of life around every corner. Think about it this way: If they can have the core mechanics of the game finished by the 8th of December, but they need more time to finish the levels they can either: A) Delay the game further, even though the mechanics and some levels are totally fun and playable. B) Throw the great levels out the window, make shit, small, content-less maps. C) Do what they're doing here, and let us play as they make more levels. In my opinion I'd want C over A and especially B.
Eh, I think they're doing this in a way of attempting to make it seem a bit more realistic, in the manner that you don't get all of your contracts back to back. Strange, but we'll see how it goes.
Sounds like it's going from beta, to alpha, to release.
.. how?
.. how?
I wonder if he meant alpha, beta.
after the witcher 3 i'd really just like to go back to having full, finished games please
