So the other night I was on my PC minding my own business, playing ArmA, when I hear a crackling sound. Then my monitors proceed display a blank screen. As my computer's fans spin down, I am thinking "I have no money." Since I had nothing better to do, I decided to Investigate. I first press the power button. No lights light up, the monitors don't display anything, but the fans spool up just for a second. I opened the side of the case and pressed it again only to notice that only the fans attached to the power supply were working, not the cpu fan or the side fan that is plugged into my motherboard. I then unplug it and perform the laying on of hands technique. This has no effect. I proceed to unplug it and plug it back in a few times after making sure the ram and graphics card are seated properly. This is when it happened, a large spark jumped from the power cable to the power supply. It was about an inch long and very bright. Kinda freaked out, I plug it in and it powers on perfectly, as if it had not even happened, not even showing the screen telling me it crashed and asking if I wanted to boot in safe mode or whatever. After this incident, I have noticed that my temperatures have been slightly lower than before. I am not sure if they actually are, or if my mind is playing tricks on me. I am just glad to have my computer working.
your computer had a virus, it had a tummy ache and had to take a quick nap. The spark was it throwing up, and then it woke up.
Ran MalwareBytes, came up clean.
I think what you witnessed was your computer performing a Time Paradox... On a more serious note, your computer is not Jesus. It is probably just a power cut you had, or more unlikely a surge. You could also have died (also unlikely) if your hand had stood in the way of that spark, which would probably not be nice, as your body would practically fry with the electricity's current. Or, the other explanation is that your computer has become sentient with the spirit of HAL.
I would like to know why you were touching the inside of your computer and unplugging then plugging in cables all while it was connected to the mains electricity.
I didn't. That's why.
I would like to know why you were touching the inside of your computer and unplugging then plugging in cables all while it was connected to the mains electricity.
Nothing wrong with doing so as long as you aren't removing / adding components.

Get a new psu before it "raptures" the rest of your pc components.
New PSU. Mine did this. Then set my desk on fire. Fire Extinguishers are not only nice decorations.
Your sensors gone bonkers. [editline]4th August 2012[/editline]
Get a new psu before it "raptures" the rest of your pc components.
^^It's hardware abstraction layer, Dave.
^^It's hardware abstraction layer, Dave.
I think he was joking
