I got an ATI 5770 about a month ago and I am just noticing now that im not getting the best quality in my games, even on the highest setting on a game i still get the "cuts" on corners and on edges. I wend into catalyst control and raised all of the setting under the 3D tab to the max, but still when I play games like GTA IV or R.U.S.E. it still looks, well, not great. Any way that I can make the game look better, cause it would be great to have my games look awesome. Here is a screenshot of a couple of games, on max setting on catalyst and the actual game http://s948.photobucket.com/albums/ad326/Nic_man/?action=view&current=Metro20332011-02-0722-03-40-42.jpg http://s948.photobucket.com/albums/ad326/Nic_man/?action=view&current=Metro20332011-02-0722-03-40-42.jpg#!oZZ4QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs948.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fad326%2FNic_man%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DMetro20332011-02-0722-03-32-39.jpg http://s948.photobucket.com/albums/ad326/Nic_man/?action=view&current=Metro20332011-02-0722-03-40-42.jpg#!oZZ5QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs948.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fad326%2FNic_man%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DMetro20332011-02-0722-03-13-02.jpg http://s948.photobucket.com/albums/ad326/Nic_man/?action=view&current=Metro20332011-02-0722-03-40-42.jpg#!oZZ7QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs948.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fad326%2FNic_man%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3Dhl22011-02-0722-07-48-84.jpg http://s948.photobucket.com/albums/ad326/Nic_man/?action=view&current=Metro20332011-02-0722-03-40-42.jpg#!oZZ8QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs948.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fad326%2FNic_man%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DGTAIV2011-02-0722-00-51-60.jpg http://s948.photobucket.com/albums/ad326/Nic_man/?action=view&current=Metro20332011-02-0722-03-40-42.jpg#!oZZ9QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs948.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fad326%2FNic_man%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DGTAIV2011-02-0722-00-49-27.jpg
Everything looks fine, what's the problem? What's a "cut" on a corner? Aliasing? Get a higher PPI monitor, then, the screens look fine.
You totally cannot max out metro on that card. Also dont use the 3d setting on your card but use the ingame ones. And those screens seem fine?
You need something with more vram for GTA IV. Metro 2033 is the most demanding game on the market right now expect to spend at least $600 just on a video card to play it on full.
Metro isnt full, I have 6 gigs of ram and a beautiful 2011 flatscreen monitor. I should be seeing better quality :(
I'm pretty sure by cuts you mean jagged lines. GTA 4 does have any AA settings in the game so you have to live with that. Turn up AA in metro to see less jagginess.

Correction - I run it with everything maxed except for the shadows, those are set to medium.
Whats ur FPS on that settings? Also why dont you just increase the video settings of the game in the game menu? Putting a new GPU in doesnt magically make the game look better, it just allows you to put the ingame graphics settings higher which in turn makes the game look better. Any gamer should know this really.
By "cuts" on edges you mean aliasing, right? (i.e. edges looking like stairsteps) Some games just plain don't support antialiasing, and GTA4 is one of them. I do believe the 5 series cards can do this "morphological AA" thing which is basically a postprocess edge filter that seems to do quite a good job at smoothing edges out without blurring the picture in any noticeable way. Just install the newest drivers for your card and look for that feature in the control panel.
i can't max out gtaiv with my 5970 stop bullshitting
Correction - I run it with everything maxed except for the shadows, those are set to medium. Oh, and I run it with a tiny resolution, 1280x1024. (Largest my monitor supports) Your 5970 should be able to max IV, though.
You have a 5970 and a 1280x1024 monitor? Thats the stupidest thing I ever heard.
I know, right? When you have infinite money, why not get a better monitor too?
i can't max out gtaiv with my 5970 stop bullshitting
GTAIV is just a CPU intensive game. You'll find people with a Core i5/i7 maxing out the game perfectly fine with a 8800GT.
i have an i7 920 he is still bullshitting
Also very hard drive intensive.
No not that much.
i have an i7 920 he is still bullshitting
No I am not. If you can't max GTA IV with your 5970 it's most probably defective.
it's not defective i can max out crysis gtaiv just runs horribly fact
It probably dislikes GTA IV, then. Because my 5770 CAN max GTA IV (except for the shadows) and that's also a fact.
mine can with full shadows.
When I do that my framerate drops to around 30 FPS, which, in IV, is unplayable in my opinion.
