• Is there a way to password protect folders?

I was just wondering if anybody knew if there is a way to password protect a file on Windows Vista. I've done some searches but all I've found so far is expensive 3rd party software. Is there a free program I can use anywhere? Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Right click on an empty space and create new > Zip folder, then move your files into the zipped folder and go to properties or something. There's a password option somewhere.
I compressed all the files into a .zip but I can't seem to find any options to password protect it.

TrueCrypt. Crypt the folder. It might be pain in the arse to decrypt it if you feel like adding files to the folder.
