Audiosurf is OK, it's not very hard. I honestly wouldn't say it's worth the money when there are much more challenging rythm games with larger communities that are free.

The real appeal is in the auto-generation and pretty visuals. It's fun to mellow out by playing one of your favorite albums on there.
(Also I think it can be difficult on higher levels. Trying to go for highest score can be difficult if you don't know exactly you are doing with a specific class.)

It can be really difficult on elite difficulty with iron mode enabled. (Try Graeme Norgate's Venice for example, I can easily beat nearly any song on ninja mono iron mode yet I can only survive Venice about half the time.)
And I think a good part of the appeal of Audiosurf is it's a really simple and fairly easy game, at least on mono like I play. It's more relaxing than most music based games.

It's fun for wasting a couple minutes every now and then or chew through your favorite couple songs in the various playstyles it offers.
It's just not particularly deep in gameplay or any aspect really.
