Coming to the PS3 huh? All I can say is it better not suck.
The Vita game was alright, story and characters were still shit. Wish they would toss the characters from the anime and make their own.
Didn't think the shacknews layout could get worse
This show is fucking horrible. Why does it get a game, it's so undeserving of one.
Why do Japanese devs insist on making games for outdated hardware?
Maybe they can make less of a shit translation. Now if only the author's infinitely better work, Accel World, could be half as popular.
Gameplay-wise I hear this is pretty good though.

now with coder art!
Because its a show about people in an MMORPG?
.hack was, but it was still pretty good, then again you almost never saw them outside the game and the real world was almost irrelevant other than people going into comas.
I wish Bamco would just put these trash anime games down for once and tell CyberConnect2 to make a new .hack game. .hack was and still is infinitely better than SAO with the whole "video game world" schtick, so what the hell is taking them so long to make a new game?
Oh wait, they're still shitting out half-assed Naruto games. Now I remember.
Last .hack game we got was a tie-in fighting game that used the Naruto Storm engine, and the mechanics in that game were surprisingly better than the Naruto Storm games. Sadly, it was only released with .hack The Movie, which, by the way, was Japan only. We haven't had a single game or anime of the series ever since, and now it's getting sidelined by this shit? Get the fuck out of here, Bamco.

Honestly, a better question than "why does it get a game" is "why does it get a game that isn't an MMO." The one franchise that isn't being bastardized into MMO format is the one that SHOULD be.

Even worse since we basically haven't gotten anything in America since .hack G.U.
Not even the movie compilation re-release that changed story aspects but put them all together in one big movie. Nor anything else after that, including the massive crossover game. Bamco basically abandoned .hack in the west before the PS3 and 360 even hit their stride for real, and following .hack Versus they pretty much ditched the series entirely besides the occasional OVA or anime thing.

As far as I understand the show isn't about game world, it's about people playing this game. So making a MMORPG is kinda pointless.

It would make sense to make the SAO game based off the world SAO was in (which was an MMORPG). IMO it would be a lot better to be involved in the game mechanics and lore (well, the game world, Aincrad) that was explained with slight detail in the series than to follow the storyline of the protagonist (especially so, since the protagonist in the series has basically no flaws...). Reaching floor 100 in an MMORPG sounds more fun than following the main guy winning all of your battles

I really want to explore Aincrad god damnit. Preferrably with some Oculus Rift action.

It would really cool even if they follow the same concept of storyline, aka you're one player who's trapped in a game world and so on. Unfortunately it's unlikely we will ever see that.

From what I remember, the president of CC2, Hiroshi Matsuyama, said that a new .hack game is in the works, but as of now, they still haven't revealed anything else about it. Not even the platform it's going to be on.

Because people in Japan play the ps3 and vita more than xbone/ps4.
