I basically want a 13" Netbook, I was first looking for a laptop but came to the conclusion they don't last longer than 2 hours on a single charge and since I travel by plane at least twice a year it would be nice to have something that outlasts a 3 hour flight.
I will mostly use it for school work, typing documents etc. I would also like some input from facepuncher who have worked with a 13" netbook before and can tell me if the screen isn't too small
My budget is 600-800 euros and it should run Photoshop and some simple games. It also has to be at least 13".
And the battery life should last at least 4-5 hours on moderate use.
I already did some research myself and I'm considering to get the Acer Aspire 3820T with Intel Core i3-330M 2.13ghz, 500gb hdd, HD 5470, 4gb of ram and the 6 cell battery.
I'm sure it will match all my needs except for the battery life, finding a decent review is a pain in the ass, basically because there are so many different versions of the same netbook.
Anyone got experience with this one or can recommend me another?

Simple games?
Well let me clarify what I meant, I am looking for a netbook mainly for school work, but it is a big plus if it can run most game on at least medium settings.
The above does this, but i'm unsure about it's battery life and therefore I'm asking if any Facepunchers got experience with this Netbook or can recommend a different one.
HP Pavilion dm1z
It uses the new AMD Fusion stuff, which combines a CPU and a GPU. Gets about 5-6 hours, though I bet if you turn Wifi off, you'd get a bit more out of it. The GPU is fairly powerful, so some games should work fine. It's much slower than that Acer, though if battery life is what you're after, it will work fine.
At the prices you're looking at, they're not really netbooks anymore. They'd start becoming subnotebooks.
you don't want a netbook, you want a 13/14" laptop. Take a look at HP stuff, looks nice, medium prices.

The one I posted in the op also combines the CPU and GPU, but also includes an added dedicated GPU which can be turned on/off. And you suggested a 11'', but even 13" seems small for me, let alone a 11".
And whether you call them subnotebooks or netbooks, I don't really care. As long the battery life is 5-6+ during light use.
So thanks for the suggestion but I'm afraid the 11" size is just too small.

That's different, most of the intel i5's and i3's have intergrated graphics chip which basically give you an image on the screen but choke and die as soon as you want it to do anything more advanced than flash games.
AMDs' fusion thing links the processor and the graphics chip for massive performance boosts.

Thanks for the tip, checked out their site, and found the HP Pavilion dm4.
14", i5 cpu, 4gb ddr3 and 500gb hdd. And some cool extra features like a DVD-RW burner and fingerprint scanner. Not a dedicated GPU but playing games on it is a low priority.
I believe the price of 800€ is fair, I really dig the design.

I believe I made my choice, thanks facepunch!
EDIT: Also appears to have a 5-6 hours battery life with normal use (web browsing). I'm sold.
Also I hope that white HP logo is just a carefully angled watermark or a sticker.
Nope, the logo is made into the lid, but looks nice when it glows

Try taking a look at the ASUS U35JC.
sir that isn't a netbook, that's a laptop
he's not looking for just netbooks though
don't get a netbook if you plan on doing more than browsing the internet and making word docs.
Just make sure not to get one with windows seven starter because it has horrible limitations such as only being able to run three programs at once
I'm going to do a fresh install of Windows anyway, to remove all the crapware probably pre-installed on most laptops.

That's now false, I ran about 5 on my Eee PC before I did the anytime upgrade.

HP does not have much crapware on it, only a Norton trial, HP toolbar for IE8, HP update, HP games (Wildtangent) and HP's windows recovery partition. It's not terrible to keep the OEM stuff. HP is also known for overheating laptops, and the logo on the back glows the same way Apple makes theirs glow.

How about 15inch dv6-3050us which is more powerful for same price and looks better?

I have 2 HP laptops and they never get 65C+
APPARENTLY, running games on your laptops can fuck them up after a while unless you get a super expensive/amazingly good one
but thats just what Americans on steam have told me.
Also, my laptop is supposed to have 5-7 hours battery life, but when actually running shit like just steam chat and 2 tabs in chrome it lasts an hour and a half roughly (luckily I leave it plugged in most of the time anyway)

Did you not charge it all the way the first time you plugged it in?
Did you not charge it all the way the first time you plugged it in?
it was fully charged etc
But maybe it's just my laptop (if it is, still got 3.5 years left on the warranty anyway)

Thanks! They don't sell that in the Netherlands afaik. But they do sell the dv6-3130sd which is the same I suppose.
That's why I came to Facepunch, the laptop market is a clusterfuck. I can't see the woods because of the trees we dutch would say!
