I don't care what site you'd use. Newegg OR tiger direct. I'm in the us and I've got about 200 dollars to upgrade my pc. I've already scored 8gbs of DDR3 so I definitely need a motherboard that can even support it, and i'd like to squeeze a processor in with that. The ram I got was 30 bucks for 8 gigs. It's g-skill 1600 ripsaw series. My problem here is that there is a six core for 120 (after mega eblast Dovakiin sale black friday) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103851&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL112511&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL112511-_-EMC-112511-Index-_-ProcessorsDesktops-_-19103851-L017A Or just a Quad core. After that I would need a motherboard, if I got the six core it'll have to be 50 dollars max with ddr3 support. So uh.. Opinions?
For gaming performance you'd be better of with the deneb, the 955 that is, but I wouldn't suggest either, as an i3 2100 on stock clocks outperforms even a 980, which is an overclocked 955. Downside is lack of two physical cores, but the power of each separate core is still marginally better, and you would be able to upgrade to an i5 2500k once you have 200 more to spend.

Okay so I guess I'll nab the quad core, and it can be overclocked too right? It'll be a lot better than my non overclocked 2.8 dual core, and it's cheaper too the extra 15 bucks scores me a half decent motherboard Any thoughts on a mobo? [editline]25th November 2011[/editline] I bought the quad core because why the fuck not. I have a budget of 75 dollars for a motherboard. Thoughts? Must have ddr3 support, 8gb of ddr3 g-skill ripsaw ram, win7 ultimate 64 bit, quad core processor etc etc
Uh you realize we both just said not to get the quad core or the 6 core right? We said to get the i3-2100, it's better in basically every way.

Yeah i'm not a huge computer buff, and I don't side with a particular brand just because one makes this or that. I'm sure one is better but I had this shit on newegg in front of me and I had like 5 people yelling at me to buy it and not to buy it and I just said fuck it. Anythings an upgrade from my current. I still could use that motherboard though, 65 dollar budget there must be something :v: [editline]25th November 2011[/editline]
It's Intel, has a lowercased i in it, and hasn't got four cores.
