I suggest Debian, and install something like openbox for the window manager.
Can we stop these threads already. It's going to be different for every user, depending on needs and personal preference. I've said this before, to even start looking at using linux, you need to be doing your own research. The phrase RTFM isnt quite appropriet - but its cloe enough.
