I've updated it to the most recent 64 bit version, but it can't play files at all. Nothing. I just get errors. Any ideas?
What OS?
Vista Home Premium 64 bit.
What errors do you get?

Question, why / what are you using quicktime for? It's shitty trial software by apple, and there are plenty of superior alternatives.

Quicktime has compatibility issues with Vista x64, I spent forever trying to fix this and stumbled upon the solution for the Quicktime browser plugin, run the browser in compatibility mode and you should be good to go, as for ANY file being played, I have no idea. I recommend getting VLC, latest and greatest free media player.

Agreed, OP needs VLC.
There is no such thing as running IE in compatibility mode, as it is a system program. Where do you do this?
For that matter Chrome responds the same way.
If you're hardcore I say use MPC-HC and FFDshow. The only software solution with upscaling I know of so far.
i have a solution
dont use quicktime you insufferable retard

Hey post in the right thread next time.
Also Divx can't play files because fucking quicktime isn't installed and I've never bothered to look for a workaround.

No, you sir, are the retard, not him.
Install QuickTime Alternative.
I'm not planning on using Quicktime as my media player, I just need it installed.

It still sucks, and you haven't told us why you need it so we can suggest an alternative.

I need it to play my tutorial movies. They're in .mov and any other player plays them with artifacts.

Oh if that's the case it's probably just the file that's a little broken.
Try rendering it again or download some .mov video from the net for testing.

You need quicktime installed to use .mov files in ANY program, unless you know of a workaround that I don't. If I want to open a .mov in DivX, I have to have quicktime installed. Etc. etc. That's why I need it. Did you not read my post or something?

But it plays without any artifacts in quicktime.
