These are the parts I picked out for my ~$1,000 PC build. EVGA Geforce GTX 760 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8333216&sku=E145-0764 Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=744346&sku=TSD-1000AS7 Thermaltake SMART 750W PSU http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2543335&sku=T925-8032 Corsair Carbide 200R http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4907301&sku=C13-0200 16GB Patriot Viper Series 3 Black Mamba DDR3 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8021815&sku=P33-2300 Intel Core i5 4670k & Asus z87 Motherboard http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8511484&sku=M69-7218 Opinions?
Here's my recommendation: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1EoKw Use pcpartpicker instead of tigerdirect, so you can get the best price. The motherboard can be swapped for a G45-gaming if you want SLI support and better audio. Another option is Gigabyte's z87x-d3h which offers more USB and better BIOS but has worse audio quality (not noticeable unless you are an audiophile). I don't know why you were getting 16 GB of RAM, but I'm assuming (based on the 4670k and 760) that the purpose is gaming. You will never need more than 8 for that.
You can save a little bit of money on your power supply. 750W is overkill. For what you have picked out 500W is probably perfect, if you really feel uncomfortable with that the most I would go is 600W. Unless you plan on running SLI or something, which, eh...

I picked 16 because I think it makes me cool and also I think the RAM looked pretty. Also I'm basically deaf so audio isn't much of a problem for me, so would you suggest the z87x-d3h over the motherboard I had chosen now? It's not even a terrible price compared to the lesser wattage PSU's so I'm not worried about it
You only really need more than 8GB of memory when you're rendering shit or do a lot of high-resolution editing.
Don't spend $60 because it makes you look cool. It actually makes you look like a dumbass (no offense). As to your previous question, I would say go for the z87x-d3h.

In all honesty I'm definitely going to be needing more than 8GB of RAM so I don't plan on lowering it. I was just unsure on the motherboard and the video card.
