I've been looking at building a computer that can handle running a Source Dedicated Server full time with no stalls, etc. I'm not really looking for anything special, I mostly just want it to be able to handle atleast 20 players, while going over 20 is a huge plus. (My bandwidth is not going to be a problem) I have a basic build so far but if anyone can point out any better CPUs/Motherboards, please let me know. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.777153) and I also plan on buying (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313119) I already have a 350 W power supply and a 300 gig Hard drive as well and a case. Also, bear with me as I am still a novice at building computers. Thanks for reading.
here
What the ****, He's running a small server. And the build you recommended him is horrible, he could get an i5 8 gb ram and a 250 GB HDD for that price and he doesnt even need an HDD, PSU, Case and the network adapter isn't even necessary. And that athlon is a socket FM1 and you picked an AM3+ board. OP you can spend $200 and get great performance, the i3 2100 out performs all of AMD's quad core CPU's and I highly suggest spending the extra $10 and get 8gb, and if I were you I would get a new PSU unless the on you have now is a decent brand and wont fry all your parts. Ah okay he has some things, but a SSD is a wise choice even if it is 60GB for hosting his addons/maps/skins/sounds/ect the second nic is good for redundancy Better to get more than enough than to realize you are running out of resources on the server and have to re buy stuff

[editline]2nd December 2011[/editline] And there are cheaper 60 gb SSD's, just figured I'd pick the sata 3 since thats what you picked.
I wouldn't go with OCZ... unless you like playing russain roulette
I wouldn't go with OCZ... unless you like playing russain roulette
Their SSDs are fine It's their PSUs and most of their RAM you want to worry about.
Is there a way to estimate whether or not your configuration will fit a U1 or U2 case size?
Is there a way to estimate whether or not your configuration will fit a U1 or U2 case size?
both should as long as you stick to any low profile expansion cards, the psu may be a different story
