We don't need more damn TLDs. There's enough and just adding more and more will get confusing. Especially for those less technically-able. I didn't even know there was a .jobs domain before I started looking for a job for example. There's even a .coop domain. And why do we need a .porn domain. I thought that's what .xxx was used for. And .ferrari. What's wrong with just subdomain.ferrari.tld? And .dad? Like what sort of a stupid domain is that unless it's for Baghdad, but that would be better as .bd
I сайт believe these domains! In all seriousness, they need to make a new, reasonably priced, gTLD instead of all these specific ones.

Something like .web would be nice. I know they made '.co' not too long ago but that doesn't seem to have taken off too well.

Read the article next time instead of just looking at the bold .ninja part.
Why not enable any arbitrary TLD while you're at it?

I like these new domains. I can't wait for goo.gle!!!
I like these new domains. I can't wait for goo.gle!!!
g.oogle
http://goo.gl/
And .ferrari. What's wrong with just subdomain.ferrari.tld?
They have a lot of money, that is kind of the point of it. I kind of like the idea that the BBC news site could be like (for example) news.bbc etc but some suggestions are just silly and not needed. Unless they have a huge web presence that could be simplified by a TLD (as for example again the BBC does) a company specific TLD is a kind of silly idea.
Because in theory you can visit http://ferrari or http://facepunch which is nice and you can get if you could prove you can maintain it and have the cash. Some browsers are still bitchy about it.
Google tried this (they wanted "search") and it got rejected on both technical and policy grounds. So not dotless domains for anyone, they will have to be things like something.ferrari for example. http://www.engadget.com/2013/08/17/icann-dotless-domain-google-search/
I think that's a bad idea with this kind of thing standardization is the way to go not diversification it won't result in a more inclusive internet it will just make it a pain in the ass for the majority of internet users to get to those websites
If you can't type the non Latin characters used in the TLD then you probably aren't A) the intended audience or B) able to read the contents of the site.

What would you even do with a company domain, would it only be open to that company (which means it's basically the same as a normal domain but more annoying) or could anyone hop in and register www.onlyfagsdrive.ferrari?
I can't wait to tell all my friends about face.punch!
don't worry, google stuck it to the man all internal sites at google offices are go/whatever as in "go/home" as a url
That's quite neat. Surely the go bit is a bit pointless though, they could just have the bit after it.
If you can't type the non Latin characters used in the TLD then you probably aren't A) the intended audience or B) able to read the contents of the site.
This has made me think about how much trouble people who have keyboards not designed for typing non-latin characters must have using the TLDs that we use...
Terrible idea. As a webmaster, the standard TLDs that have been around for years are well established. This is a pointless and confusing decision.
This has made me think about how much trouble people who have keyboards not designed for typing non-latin characters must have using the TLDs that we use...
It's not helpful if people want websites ending with things like .中国 or .भारत
That's quite neat. Surely the go bit is a bit pointless though, they could just have the bit after it.
reduces ambiguity with omnibar you know that there's only one "go" so the omnibar will learn that it's a site that can be accessed
That's quite neat. Surely the go bit is a bit pointless though, they could just have the bit after it.
"go" is a server name on the internal network. It gets resolved to a single IP. Otherwise they'd need a NetBIOS name for each "bit after it". Aka, it's technically a lot simpler.
I'm waiting for prices for *.xyz to be announced, that should be happening fairly soon.
That's quite neat. Surely the go bit is a bit pointless though, they could just have the bit after it.
They probably would anyway, but you don't need it (Windows/OS X/Linux can all be configured to lookup plain hostnames from within a specific DNS "domain"), Every system on my network is a part of my internal "*.lan" domain, yet I don't need to provide the .lan whenever I type in a hostname. Like, if their internal DNS was setup so that they had "*.internal.google.com", then a hostname of "go.internal.google.com" could just be entered as "go" and it'd work.

One domain for each car model or something?
www.bbc.bbc Looks dumb and like something is missing.
news.bbc weather.bbc sports.bbc
news.bbc weather.bbc sports.bbc
This is how it would look like, I notice that a lot of people here misunderstand this.
