I hate these things so much.
I know they serve a good purpose and all but constant fire drills at school as a kid have caused me to never want me to ever be near one at any time. Just seeing one on a wall startles me at this point.

I work with those sort of tools daily and I know what you mean. But you shouldn't be scared, that's how you get hurt. Respect it but don't fear it.

Technically I scared myself straight in woodshop. The other kids had a carefree attitude which could've resulted in careless injuries, while me being a pussy made me act more careful around everything. Hell I've seen kids use equipment either without goggles or while wearing earbuds.

I looked at the url, it's something called trypophobia that's an as-of-yet unrecognized psychological fear of irregular patterns of holes. Wikipedia says that scientists have done some studying of it and found a link between images like the one above and a primal sense of danger, lending merit to the condition's legitimacy.

Liquid Nitrogen Tanks (No picture, the one we use is about 2x the size of a small kid's swimming pool in diameter and extremely deep. If you were to fall into it, instant death. There's no reason to be above it unless you're on a ladder or scissor-lift AS I HAVE BEEN BEFORE.)

And so on. If you work in an industrial sector, little stuff like hand tools and forklifts seem a lot less scary next to large equipment that will absolutely kill you dead instead of nasty cuts or a missing limb.
Even something that looks like a harmless oversized barbeque can be improperly balanced and fail catastrophically, throwing fist-sized chunks of metal everywhere.
