What is the most efficient choice after graduating high school? Why?

I believe travel is the smartest choice, then the graduate can experience many different things, work on their peoples skills and get a nice break after being busy with school their whole life. What do you think is the best thing to do after high school?
college, because there are so many (good paying) jobs that require a degree.
work. Or college of course.
Though our system is so much different it's not even comparable
Find a PhD Professor relating to your interests and impress the shit out of him, make him a good friend.

why "efficient"? What makes some choices more efficient than others? Effective would be a better term when regarding development of you as a person.
Anyways it really depends on who you are and what you want to do. Some people will want to learn a trade and for them they need to find apprenticeships, some might want to become economists or software engineers and so of course university will be best for them to get the qualifications they need. Having a gap year between finishing school and going to university could work out better than going straight in (just having a break I guess), but then you'll forget how to study effectively if you don't need to do it for a long period of time.
Go to a community college to get your basics done, then go to a real university to get your degree. Saves you a ton of money, and as long as you don't fuck up, you can probably get in to almost any university you want to since transfer admissions are far less competitive than freshman admissions.
If I could go back and do it again, I would work for at least a year away from home, or really when you feel secure, primed and focused, before studying.
If you've not lived away from home, or worked a full time before, it's gonna teach you all kinds of lifey lessoney things and get you some money for booze and condoms/games later.
Better get to get a bit of discipline down, and soul-searchy-whadda-I-wanna-do crap down before you commit to full time study, you'll make better use of your time and money.
I wasted too much time on being depressed, sick, poor, and worrisome due to my severe lack of life experience, family shit and lack of direction when I started Uni, and it set a bad precident for the rest of my studies.
Straighten your shit out before you get in a pile of debt educating yourself. Taking a year or two to do so before hand would be far better than 5-6 years down the track with an assload of debt and little paper qualifications to speak of.
Sure, I'm good now after growing and maturing and such shit, but I just feel like I'm bursting at the seams with hindsight. Wish I could've gone in prepped/pre-enlightened/more mature w/e.
tl;dr, KNOW what you want, and what direction you are gonna take before getting in debt. if you don't, take your time figuring it out, it's really worthwhile. (Unless you're rich as fuck and can afford to piss around for as long as it takes, I guess, but that wouldn't be a very healthy way of goin about it imo.)
If someone would've told me this, and made me listen, I would be so much better off, education-and-debt-wise. Made me feel like I was a stubborn little shit, makes me weary of being a stubborn little shit forever.
You can barely get any good job now a days without a degree

Basically this, but if you want to learn stuff and get core classes done and figure out things you want to do, you could always take classes at a community college and earn an associates, which could get you a decent part time job while you figure out your life more.
