The experimental branch began in March. Talk about being late to the party, PCGamesN. However, I say this where, until about a week ago, at least 90% of the Rust playerbase had no idea why Rust hadn't been updated since March. Reading the official dev blog on the official website is actually too hard, it seems. So, at least this gets the word out.
can you actually play the development version?
It always seemed as if nobody knew where rust was going. At least they admitted it, there is still hope. I am still surprised. Wouldn't have thought rust was based on a totally different game. Didn't know that. Cash4kills sounds really cool though. Except for the title.
can you actually play the development version?
If by "play" you mean try out the experimental branch, absolutely. It's been available almost the whole time since garry started it, once it was to the point of being able to be an actual server (as opposed to a console that's making the right noises to one day be a game). If by "play" you mean have fun, nnnnnot really. Building is beginning to be implemented, combat isn't in at all, and there's very little to do but explore the procedurally-generated map, laugh at the glitches, and break dudes' foundations while they're trying to build if you're so inclined, since everything breaks in just a few hits for now.
I last played Rust when it was free. How it looking now?
I last played Rust when it was free. How it looking now?
It's skiddie and BR/kebab central and about as laggy as trying to transfer 100gb of strangely specific porn second while playing.
I last played Rust when it was free. How it looking now?
Legacy build: Hackers and KOS shits everywhere. Experimental build: Not playable as a game yet, but looking really promising. [t]http://files.facepunch.com/garry/2014/June/20/2014-06-20_20-39-19.jpg[/t] New forest biome that can spawn in the procedural terrain generation. [t]http://files.facepunch.com/garry/2014/May/30/1401477862.jpg[/t] Grass and water is looking good. [t]http://files.facepunch.com/garry/2014/June/20/cavetest4.jpg[/t] This is an art test scene (in-engine), it's not in the experimental build, but caves are in the works. The Rust subforum and community is a huge stain on the Internet in general, but damn if I'm not looking forward to Rust itself as it shapes up.
Nice to see rust getting a big overhaul luckily I didn't buy the one on steam, but if this one turns out to be what it is all for sure play it.
I started playing when I got my PC in January and haven't play much since the removal of Zombies, the appeal kinda died off to me and I got bored of the game, but I've been following the Dev blogs and the game does look promising.
I last played Rust when it was free. How it looking now?
Now it's looking like $20.
Cash4kills, it's almost too funny to be true.
I think it would be nice if in this new version they added zombies, secondly I must say it looks a bit like "The Forest".
I think it would be nice if in this new version they added zombies, secondly I must say it looks a bit like "The Forest".
Zombies are lame.
Zombies are lame.
But adds fun if you're playing by yourself and adds for something for you to be worried about rather then just players.
While were starting with suggesting terrible ideas, I vote there should be a real time poop mechanic for the true authentic next gen experience. On a different note, I dont follow new about Rust at all. Once this branch is up in full speed I might just go and buy the game. Looks great.
At least it doesn't look like complete garbage anymore
Cash4kills sounds really cool though. Except for the title.
We need a Cash4Kills parody of the Cash4Gold ads that splurged the TV a few years back.
But adds fun if you're playing by yourself and adds for something for you to be worried about rather then just players.
I kind of appreciated the idea that you had to worry about how you killed zombies too, somewhat similar to the traditional "guns make loud noises and attract more zombies"- except it was other players that would notice
The experimental branch began in March. Talk about being late to the party, PCGamesN.
This is more about the interview, though.
Seems odd to call it a reboot when there never was really a full game to begin with. Its always been in beta, so its more that development is progressing and the beta is changing.

You dev bois better give me the car cheatcode this time around
Why do I think I need Rust and why do I think it will run like CRAP on my PC?
I wonder if this has anything to do with Garry instructing one of the coders to be lazy.
Lack of proper architectural planning is what it seems to boil down to... Here is where the pros and 'indie' dev teams get separated. Should facepunchstudios, with its funding and resources, be graded on an indie level? The rust community seems to have much more patience with this team then if it was any other development house. If it was EA or something of known 'mainstream' level, you all be throwing rocks...
You should spawn with a different dick size every time.

The devs weren't planning for or expecting 1.6 million sales in 6 months.
