Almost a month and already 2 million copies sold?
Even some AAA games take like almost half a year just to reach 1 million copies sold.

I would call this typical AAA sales figures for a month. What's more interesting the ratio of Wii U consoles to Mario Kart sales, this is the game loads of people were waiting for (me included)
The game deserves it.
Mario Kart 8 is wonderful. The music is the top notch too.
And I was one of the champs who bought the mario kart bundle.
You're welcome nintendo! Now put out some more badass games for me to buy you magnificent bastards.
So everyone knows, it's still the worst selling Mario Kart.

You're posting a chart that shows that relative sales aren't the lowest at all. Also going by the 2 million sales figure, the relative adoption is actually equal to that of the Wii version.

"Relative to platform"
And doesn't actually show it relative to platform. It just shows the platform numbers too.

The "1.26M" didn't clue you in that this chart isn't accurate?
Nintendo really is turning the system around with all the stuff the showed at E3, and Smash is gonna make lots of money no matter what.

Without the article the chart is pointless and out of context.
Polygon examined the last 22 years of Mario Kart games sales. Based on our research, an average of 20.37 percent of those who purchase Nintendo hardware also purchase Mario Kart games. If Mario Kart's trend continues and Nintendo sells Mario Kart 8 to 20.37 percent of its existing 6.17 million user base, sales of the game would reach 1.26 million. If Nintendo's console predictions are correct, and assuming the average of 20.37 percent remains, Mario Kart 8 sales would reach 1.99 million units by the end of March 2015. Meaning this latest Mario Kart would sell a bit more than a third of the copies that the worst-selling Mario Kart, 2001's Mario Kart: Super Circuit for the Game Boy Advance, sold in its lifetime.
The chart and article were already wrong shortly after the game's first weekend.

You do realize that the Wii U only sold like 7 million times, meaning that MK8 itself already reached rather high sales.
