Good game but very short. Similar to Borderlands in some ways.
Good game but very short. Similar to Borderlands in some ways.
Wouldn't it be the other way around?
Man, it's gonna take forever to install this at 200-300 kb download rates on average.
It's very fun but the world is pretty empty, the enemy encounters in the world are the same, enemy health just keeps on increasing so you'll be emptying a magazine of super ammo into what's essentially a guy in rags. The game doesn't have an ending, it builds up to a final level with a final boss then just ends before you get any of that. For $5 it's worth it for a 10 hour campaign
Since Rage is on sale again I'll post how to fix the thing.
Make a folder named "id software" in C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\ (This gives filecache000 a place to go, almost entirely removing texture pop-in.) Then use this CFG maker. Put the new rageconfig CFG in the Rage/base folder. //site with the cfg maker is down (There's a few rage configs floating around) e: Post further down the thread has a config to use

Add +cvaradd g_fov x to your launch options. Replace x with how much you want to increase the base fov of 80 by. (e.g , +cvaradd g_fov 15 would be a fov of 95.)
Meh. Got it with the Quakecon bundle, only fun I had in it was punching the shit out of people.
This game is id's Ricochet. Play through it during the free weekend if you must but don't buy this game.
I paid $60 for this day one... :v:
I'm really tempted to just install it and beat it during the weekend without buying it. I'll see if time will be on my side.
I thought this game was pretty boring. Takes forever to download and takes forever to get into any action. Shooting people and racing is actually fun, until you have to drive/run around talking to people for your next objectives. I have trouble playing any FPS games that aren't full of action though. In other words, nothing like Quake or Doom
How about providing a link
Can't. Site with the cfg maker has been down for months. But here's a cfg I found in 5 seconds on google. You can legit beat this game before the free weekend is over.
I can't legit download this game before the free weekend is over
This game is legit good, but there are so many flaws in it which the strongest one being that it ends instantly out of nowhere and the "open-world" is only big corridors with.. GASP.. 3 other routes!! The gunplay is the only thing that makes it good as well as its awesome graphics. (those cliffs)
I swear the Steam free weekend banners never start the installation for me. Anyone got an actual install link?
I swear the Steam free weekend banners never start the installation for me. Anyone got an actual install link?
Try restarting Steam.
Oh shit son
25GB? If I started downloading it now it wouldn't finish by the time the free weekend was over.
25GB? If I started downloading it now it wouldn't finish by the time the free weekend was over.
19GB
19GB
Huh, the system requirements on the store page say 25GB. Odd.
Huh, the system requirements on the store page say 25GB. Odd.
Download is 19GB and it will take 23GB when it's installed.
This game imo is very fun and is quite a good game. It's a throwback really, plays like a classic shooter but also has the story and length of one as well. Rage could have been so much more.
This is actually a really fun game. It peaks at around half of the way through and everything past that isn't really worth playing, but it's solid and the gunplay is awesome. It's short enough to finish before the weekend is over.

Ah Rage, I bought it when it came out and enjoyed the hell out of it. It has some of the most satisfying gunplay I've experienced in quite some time. The ending was really underwhelming, but I think a lot of folks didn't like it because it seemed to look like an open world game, when in reality it was actually quite small and linear. If you go into expecting a linear game with a not so great ending, I think you'll enjoy it a lot more. And the game looks absolutely fantastic and very detailed, despite quite a few textures looking not so great up close.
The vehicular combat was kind of neat.
I'm going in expecting a straight-up shooter from id that has some racing elements and some experimental progression aspects not in their other games, nothing more, nothing less. Quake 4 bored me severely, so when this inevitably finishes downloading, i'll judge for myself if it's bad or not and maybe complete my id collection on Steam.
