While I completely understand not wanting to give up your major cash cow just yet, for FUCKS sake make something new already!
Then you will end up paying $200 for the whole game + all of the expansions if not more, the story will have been raped in every possible way, and the game will be as easy to use as a baby toy.
If you're in the beta for WoD you would see that WoD is going to vastly improve WoW, I think that they will be able to stabilize their loss in subscribers and even gain some.

It keeps the company afloat, besides it's not the entire company that focuses on WoW just one studio of theirs. Other studios focus on other projects from what I can remember.
Then you will end up paying $200 for the whole game + all of the expansions if not more,
Err, right now, if you buy WoW, you get WoW, TBC, WotLK and Cataclysm, so you only need to buy the game + Mists of Pandaria. I don't really see a reason why they won't continue rolling older expansions into the base game. But if you hate being milked with expansions, there's always EVE, and it's a pretty OK game.
I thought the next expansion after WoD was gonna be the last one
There's nothing wrong with this, Everquest just had their 21st expansion and that's only several years older. I just wish they'd make another MMO and do things differently. A World of Warcraft sequel that resembles Ultima Online instead of Everquest could be amazing.
A company with nearly 5000 employees sure have something new cooking up then just Hearthstone and WoW. (New Diablo/Starcraft?)

to be honest I'd love a new Warcraft, but with a completely new lore cause WoW pretty much milked it dry
Whatever works for them, they got enough people to work on 10 projects at once and with WoW they can't go wrong.
Why do people seem to have a problem with this? The only thing they really can (and should) do is keep supporting the game with new content and expansions as long as there still are active players. If they stop making expansions or just make "WoW 2" they would piss off their entire WoW fanbase. If you think having 10 years worth of stuff planned can be compared to planning on milking their customers you need to understand that those 10 years are just ideas written on paper. Next to no actual man-hours have gone into producing those 10 years of coming content, they are ofcourse still focusing on what is coming in the near future.
That's good news for me I guess. My family just can't seem to stay away from WoW and I can't play an MMO without them or I won't have fun. I haven't played since February but can see myself renewing for the new expansion.
Because the game's subscriber count is rapidly bleeding out, at it's current rate they'll barely have two million people left two years from now. In other words, they're soon going to hit a point where having over a thousand people work on a single game is no longer economically viable, which means expansions will take longer to make and/or have less content, which means the subscriber count will suffer even more.
With 2 million subcribers playing, that's still more than pretty much every MMO out there. And that's after an extremely profitable life cycle, and I imagine even then it'll be profitable
While I completely understand not wanting to give up your major cash cow just yet, for FUCKS sake make something new already!
They are making something new? Project Titan.
A company with nearly 5000 employees sure have something new cooking up then just Hearthstone and WoW. (New Diablo/Starcraft?)
Still 1 expansion left on starcraft 2.
Still 1 expansion left on starcraft 2.
they're working on that and Heroes of the Storm.
Where the FUCK is my Warcraft 4, Blizzard. I've been waiting 12 years.
If you're in the beta for WoD you would see that WoD is going to vastly improve WoW, I think that they will be able to stabilize their loss in subscribers and even gain some.
I don't think anything could improve WoW at all, ever, because it's a game that needs to be completely fundamentally replaced as a whole. It's broken completely at its core and needs to just fucking die.
Where the FUCK is my Warcraft 4, Blizzard. I've been waiting 12 years.
It's never going to happen.
I don't think anything could improve WoW at all, ever, because it's a game that needs to be completely fundamentally replaced as a whole. And if it's been broken over time with updates, why does it still have so many people playing?
That nipple sure isn't looking so nice anymore Blizzard.
I'm not someone whose actually played WoW, but if that was true then why does it have so many people playing it? And if it's been broken over time with updates, why does it still have so many people playing?
There is always going to be tons of people when there are tons of content. But even the most hardcore players are getting pretty sick of the theme-park nature, there simply is no way the milking can last forever. even really obscure MMO's before its time are still around, even if they are insanely outdated. WoW had far, far more people than any MMO out there, it's still lost a MASSIVE portion because of itself. is it 10 years of stuff, or 10 days of gameplay?
How many Assassin Creeds, CODs, Battlefields will we get in the next ten years ?
All I want before WoW dies off is the Emerald Dream storyline.
How many Assassin Creeds, CODs, Battlefields will we get in the next ten years ?
for CoD, we will finally have a 50th call of duty game!
to be honest I'd love a new Warcraft, but with a completely new lore cause WoW pretty much milked it dry
They could easily pull something like that considering Time Dragon Nonsense, like setting Warcraft 4 around the same time as the start of vanilla WoW, only in this timeline Arthas lost against Illidan during the final battle of The Frozen Throne, the Lich King was destroyed, and the Scourge dissolved into separate distinct cabals. Hell, Blizzard themselves are pulling something similar by going back to the time of Orcs and Humans, having Garrosh prevent the corruption of the Orcs, and forming an Iron Horde to conquer Azeroth. Sure it's more "going back to their roots" than doing something completely different, but it's still kind of putting a new spin on things. Regardless, if they do do Warcraft 4, I imagine there'd be potential for a sort of open-world RTS, where your Hero forms a warband that travels around Azeroth, gathering resources, visiting allied towns whilst attacking others, exploring ancient ruins, and fighting other armies. Kind of like Warcraft 3 meets Mount & Blade, or Warcraft 3 meets Total War except a bit simpler.
Well, to be fair, Everquest is still getting content so I am not surprised.
