It was pretty shit the last time i played it. Was pretty much team deathmatch, not sure if there were other gamemodes because it got so boring i quit and i haven't touched it since.
Those went fucking quick.
Sure, it's pretty much a general shooter with some cool MP mechanics, both in terms of progression and objective-centered gameplay-- but what does make it stand out a bit for me is the given atmosphere. Some of the levels are really well-designed and just feel awesome to walk around in and play through.
If you're able to get your hands on a key I'd suggest you just give it a shot. I will say I've never played STALKER so I may have had different expectations than those who have.
Keep in mind that the core game play mechanics are what you'll be using in the freeplay a-life STALKER mode
I got one about a month ago and now everyone will have one

But you wouldn't get the authentic experience without playing against Russians.
I made it into the alpha like a month back or so, don't remember. It's very ehhh
