Hello, i need some help with this a pretty annoying problem and maybe one of you guys knows how to get rid of this message: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. Let me tell you how it got started. It just happend on one of those normal days and suddenly it gave me this error for the first time. I was shocked and had no idea what caused it. After awhile i've figured a bit out what can probably can cause it. I have a Geforce 540 Ti by the way. Here is a list what i tried: - Tried reinstalling my NVIDIA drivers and installed a new clean nvidia driver (I have the lastest version now: 313.95) - Tried using an older driver from nvidia like the (version 295.30 if correctly) still does the same. - Tried awhile back when i had Windows 7, i upgraded it to Windows 8 and guessed that will solve the problem, but no...still does the same. - Scanned for virusses if that caused the problem, but no, everything was fine. - Tried switching my videocard with someone else, and that didn't worked either. still does it again. - Searched the error on the net, Tried alot of solutions on the computer forums, nvidia forums etc... nothing worked. But when is this error showing up? - This annoying problem only appears when i watch a youtube movie, or pausing a game, or i'm away from my keyboard for a while. It happens when i don't move my mouse! But if i'm active doing everything, it wont show the: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered anymore. It's only happens when i don't start moving my mouse for a while! What does it do when the message appears? - It makes my computer go black in a few seconds and then it will come back alive and it's telling me this: What does the message do? - If i left my internet browser on for a while the internet will be black and i must restart the internet browser to browse normally again. - If i play a game and i pauses it, it will crash the game when i get back later. (No matter which game i play) - It sometimes crash so hard that it must be restarted. And then telling me that it was an unexpectly BSOD. I tried alot to get rid of this. This problem started in 2012 somewhere in december. And now i want to get rid this annoying problem. I hope to have the solution! Thanks for reading!
Haaveee you tried a fresh install? Also, have you overclocked your graphics card?
Haaveee you tried a fresh install? Also, have you overclocked your graphics card?
Fresh install? You mean formatting the whole computer and installing Windows 8? No i didn't. And no i didn't overcloaked my grahpics card. I've never touched it either.
If it only happens when you stop moving your mouse it sounds like a power saving option somewhere. Check the bios for power saving settings and also check the power settings in windows and turn off any sleep/hibernate options. Also disable the screensaver if there is one

Checked the power options in control panel, only thing i had left on was the "Turn of the Display in 15 min" Now it's on "Never" and screensaver was already off.
It's possible that the display turning off could've caused that issue, has it fixed?
It's possible that the display turning off could've caused that issue, has it fixed?
Sadly, it still happens. It didn't solve the problem. Any else i can try?
check your nvidia options. by default it has a power saving option which might be buggering up things. also make sure your hard-drive isn't set to turn off after a period of inactivity.
check your nvidia options. by default it has a power saving option which might be buggering up things. also make sure your hard-drive isn't set to turn off after a period of inactivity.
Checked my Nvidia options on "Power Management" and it's on: Adaptive. I think it's probably default. Checked the hard-drive too but the harddrive says: 20 minutes it will go to sleep. but the problem appears in less than 5 minutes. So i don't think thats the problem at all. EDIT: Jus tried it but still does the same effect.... Anyting else i can try?
i have the same problem with rust and the nvlddmkm error. i surched this and many other forums and tryed shit out, drivers etc. i see no way to fix this error atm. :(( i can play rust for some minutes, then i get this nvlddmkm error and driver reset, or i get a "green screen" and the whole pv stops working. i can play other grafik heavy games with no problems, the driver reset is only if i play rust with opera and firefox. i see no point in trying out another browser like chrome or internet explorer, i think its the same. windows vista intel core i7 3770k 8 gb ram geforce gtx 660 ti
Update your motherboard firmware and video drivers, if the problem persists I'm unsure of the fix. Getting a new computer seems to be the only thing that fixed my problem. (I tried everything)
Clean your GFX card. The same thing happened to me a while back and giving it a good clean fixed the problem. Dust can do wierd shit to hardware.
