So my 8800GTS died after a long, hard life and I need a new card. My stepdad is paying, as the computer I bought from him (custom built) has a "warranty", so to speak (basically, he's gonna pay for parts for a little while should something go wrong).
Now, we have a budget of about £80. I know it isn't much, but it's enough to get a decent enough card to run GTA IV, Modern Warfare 2, Mafia II, Fallout 3/New Vegas, etc.
We have (right now), the choice between a nVidia 9800GTX, or ATI HD 4850.
My question is, which to get? Either of those, or a suggestion of your own. Please keep strictly to the budget. Max of £10 over.
(Please note I have no idea about GPUs.)
Get 480 GTX SLI.

Pay attention to my budget.
4850 or 9800GTX+, whichever is cheaper is fine. What are the rest of your specs though?
Intel Core 2 Duo 3GHz, 4 GB RAM

And Windows 7

Better than the 9800GTX and should play mafia II on low-medium (depending on your resolution) at playable frame rates
Resolution is 1680 x 1050
This build is almost exactly the same as yours will be so should give you a good idea of what to expect

Although he appears to have overclock his GPU a bit
I believe mine is at 3.0 GHz anyway, not sure, but I think it is.
Also, how well do you reckon my build would run something like Fallout 3, with the large open space of the Wasteland?
I meant that he overclocked his graphics card (GPU stands for graphics processing unit). I would imagine that fallout is quite dependant on your CPU although I'm sure it would run at least 30FPS on reasonable settings
Right, I think that's all I need to know. Thanks for the help yo, have a heart :buddy:
Put the 8800 GTS in the oven?

This, But try putting your 8800GTS in the oven.
An GT 240 would probably best suit your needs and requirements.

Haha

you're joking, right?
Though I'm sure putting the 8800GTS in the oven would possibly mend it, I would rather not try it. Might let my bro do that :v:
How about a 5750?

Only £13.97 more than budget, but free postage and it's a good performer.
