I tried both the Fallout 3 disc and the Crysis disc, but neither read. Also, there's a green light flashing on the front. What's wrong? [editline]07:52PM[/editline] Just rebooted, still nothing. ALSO I FUCKED UP: DVD DRIVE.
Because Fallout 3 and Crysis are DVD's while you only have a CD drive.
I mean the default drive it goes too. My DVD drive. It won't detect them. [editline]08:12PM[/editline] Now it says "E:\ Application Not detected" Could I uninstall it from device manager and let windows auto redetect? [editline]08:18PM[/editline] I think I may have found a possible fix. Should I try it? [code] I HAVE THE SOLUTION. This happened to me and i called a dell support guy and he fixed it!!! This is what you do... Start the Run Command Prompt Type in "regedit" without the parenthesis then click ok Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Then SYSTEM Then CURRENT CONTROL SET Then CONTROL Then CLASS Then find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} The whole thing looks like this: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Then delete the upper and lower filters.... RESTART YOUR COMPUTER THEN THERE YA GO! [/code] [editline]08:57PM[/editline] Bump.
Could be possible that your disc drive is broken.
Ok, Can't even do properties on it without explorer crashing. [editline]10:12PM[/editline] It didn't stop working until a today. Also it runs extremely hot. [editline]10:32PM[/editline] The disc comes out VERY hot.
It's broken don't put anything else in it.

If you can try another IDE cable for the drive before you buy a new one, just to be sure.
DId the registery thing help? Mine's broken too, on some disks. It can't rip or burn fully either :/
The registry thing didn't fix it.
-Go to your device manager. -If you're running vista just press the windows key on your keyboard and type it, but if you're using xp right click computer and click manage. -Under the computer manager window you should see the device manager. -When the device manager opens make sure you don't have any exclamation points or anything on any devices listed under the "disk drives" list. -If you do have an exclamation point right click it and select update drivers and see if that helps.
have you installed any games that use StarForce? have you installed nero or some other shitty software? have you tried another operating system, such as a linux livecd?
Nero came with this PC, but I never used it for anything
