It doesn't really feel like Spelunky at all though, in my playthrough on the 3DS I might have died once near the end but the difficulty is pretty low-ish until the last stretch.
It really is a very enjoyable game though, I've played it on the 3DS and just bought it on steam again, looking forward to replaying it on the weekend.
A small info for people though: timewise it's a pretty short game clocking in at around 4-6 hours depending on how fast you play it - those hours are really fun though and imo worth the ~8$
