• What should I do with a VPS
    9 replies, posted
I bought a VPS for use as a SSH tunnel. It's not the most powerful setup (£15/mo for 10GB space and 250gb bandwidth. If anyone has any better deals that allows running a proxy, it's welcome). This leaves me with the question of, What do I do with? It's a proper installation of Debian, so I can do almost anything with it. Any ideas?
I'd just put a little personal web server on it. put links to your favorite sites, some files that you need to access on multiple computers, etc.

I wonder if I can get it work with x forwarding
you could probably sell the space for twice what you're paying.
Stick Polipo on it or something.

You didn't mention how much memory it has, but I might be able to offer you a better deal: http://blog.hexxeh.net/?p=282240018 Perhaps use it as a Ventrilo server, SVN or Icecast?
I would say essential backups and ssh proxy for school and private use. As long as you keep it private you should be good. Also maybe even Vent or Icecast as Hexxeh said. I would mainly go for a small internet radio station where you can listen in from anywhere and here the music that you like. The space is kind of limiting and leaves it mainly to be proxy and net related things with a small backup of what you need.
