I am a massive fan of Forza 4 because of its beauty and realistic handling in all the cars.
Now i have been looking for quite a while for something like it for PC, with realistic i mean that you can turn off traction control and stuff, making fast turns makes you spin out of the corner and change gear yourself.
Having modern graphics is also a good thing.
The only racer that is close to this is Projects C.A.R.S which you cannot buy anymore since they reached their funding goal and are not accepting new members.

Forza 4
If such games are currently not on the market, then i would like a racer where you have tons of customization options and you need to race for money and that by doing that you can purchase better cars and upgrades.

Assetto Corsa should fit the bill, but its still in development. They do have a tech demo though. You'll need a copy of their previous title to access it.

Did you try Grid yet? Grid 2 is out at the end of May.

While grid is a simulator, it still isn't as realistic as other racing sims out there. More arcade than anything.
Rfactor 1/2
IRacing
Race 07
Richard Burns Rally
NetKar Pro
Formula Truck
I don't think there's anything quite like forza's selection of cars though. Most of these are racing cars not production cars.
There's also RaceRoom or whatever it is called but I don't know if it's any good.
The curse of driving sims is the balance.
You either get one that is literally drive for fun and look at our sparkles! (Test drive)
or
You get one that is literally LOOK HOW MUCH DESTRUCTION THERE IS but isn't necessarily 'realistic' (Burnout)
I would love to see one with a nice balance. Nice details WITH realistic damage for a change rather than the OTT stuff we see.
Even if it's one or two cars, I'd like to see it.
f1 series is really good

Thats exactly what Forza has sort of :v:
Not really the destruction but if someone smashes into your side you have a chance your breaks or wheel gets loose/breaks. Premium cars also have a damage model but yeah sometimes someone smashes you and the car engine gets damaged.
For me Forza 4 is the perfect racing game. A little below that is GT5 but sadly they are both on consoles.
rFactor
netKar Pro
RFactor
iRacing
Live for Speed
Everything by SimBin
Richard Burns Rally
But it seems like you aren't actually looking for actual racing sims.

What?
I suggest you to look into Shift 2 with handling mods, you will get nice modern graphics, ton of car customization and races for money.
That's the closest you can get to GT/Forza on PC.
