If they are offering LAN support, it better not be as buggy as GameSpy where you could illegally torrent the game and still play online with others.
I don't understand why all developers can't do this. I sometimes spend hours trying to un-fuck games with horrible console-related bugs (ala Rage). This is literally everything you need before you start playing the game.
It's kind of sad that we've reached a stage where stuff like this is essentially being touted as features. I mean, don't get me wrong it's cool that they're actually bothering to give the PC version the stuff it should have but the fact that a lot of other developers aren't bothering to the point where this stuff is starting to become a bit of a rarity is really lame.
This just made me really interested in buying the pc one.
That love letter was brilliant.
by lan support offline, does that mean if I want a Bordlerlands 2 lan party, I don't need everyone to buy the game on Steam?
FOV slider 100% mouse usable menus/mouse wheel scrolling Remappable key bindings for keyboard/mouse PC specific UI Native multiplayer matchmaking LAN support (including offline mode) Control pad support Integrated v-sync option Support for higher resolutions Mouse smoothing options (can be disabled completely) Cloud save support Achievement support Friends list support Push to Talk No portforwarding required
So, like, you know, shit that shouldn't even be called a feature. Stuff that should be an industry standard. Literally all of them but the cloud save thing (which is nice) should be an industry standard. Platforms like Steam and Origin should have set-on-stone rules for games, not accepting to sell any games that aren't more than pure console ports. Games that are actually developed for the PC, with a PC audience in mind.
Wasn't the original pretty poor in this regard? I seem to remember it had a dodgy FOV and mouse acceleration that you could only change through ini files
If they are offering LAN support, it better not be as buggy as GameSpy where you could illegally torrent the game and still play online with others.
the more players online the better imo. i don't want to spend 10 minutes searching just to find a game with people in it.
If they are offering LAN support, it better not be as buggy as GameSpy where you could illegally torrent the game and still play online with others.
Borderlands 2 uses steamworks so
Thank fuck for the fov slider. Borderlands was the only game i've ever played that actually managed to make me sick due to the fov. Felt like i was zoomed through a sniper scope at all times.
I'll believe it when I see it. They said all of these things for the first game when it was being ported.
Wasn't the original pretty poor in this regard? I seem to remember it had a dodgy FOV and mouse acceleration that you could only change through ini files
ere the love letter apologizing and saying they'll do better this time
Wasn't the original pretty poor in this regard? I seem to remember it had a dodgy FOV and mouse acceleration that you could only change through ini files
A lot of people were complaining about PC specific options not being there, while I guess some people like that, the port was still very very good.
I'll believe it when I see it. They said all of these things for the first game when it was being ported.
Wher'd they say that?
now all gearbox has to do is put brick (or some other berserker) back in the game and i will love them forever i want to punch things in the face and have them explode, gearbox, tia
I'll believe it when I see it. They said all of these things for the first game when it was being ported.
I don't remember them even vaguely hinting that they would actually care about us when they were making the first game either way, I think we can all agree that the world would be a better place if every developer listened to their audience like gearbox does

i find it funny they games have to announce that they aren't a console port when they are being released on a pc
Borderlands 2 uses steamworks so
Guess that makes sense, haven't read that much into the game. Though it says under "MORE BORDERLANDS 2" that it does.

Ubisoft and Activision, especially.
It's sad that Gearbox even needed to make this. Features like this should be standard in PC games but thanks to bad console ports it's now necessary to tell PC gamers that your PC games won't fall underneath the threshold for basic PC game acceptability.
While it should be an industry standard, in recent times these features have slowly been pushed out of AAA titles so they dont need to put effort into their ports. If they are going to do this then awesome, they deserve the right to be able to tell everyone about it because they are pretty much saying 'Yeah, dont worry, we arent going to do a rubbish port' *EDIT* There are a couple features on the site that the article above didnt list: - Push to talk - No port forwarding requirements I for one am overjoyed about this.
Wher'd they say that?

I don't remember them even vaguely hinting that they would actually care about us when they were making the first game either way, I think we can all agree that the world would be a better place if every developer listened to their audience like gearbox does
Here you go.
Developers lie about their game not being a console port before release all the time. Especially Gearbox. All they want is your pre-order, once they have your money nothing else matters.
i'm sure gearbox made a relatively big announcement with a specific list of very doable features just to not d it and piss all of you pc gamers off. that sounds really likely
Glad they are adding a FOV slider. I hated only being able to see the muzzle of my gun.
