Hello Facepunch. I'm looking for a gaming laptop around the range of 700 to 800 USD. I already have a top of the line gaming desktop, so this laptop will mainly be as my back up or when I have to travel and what not. It needs to be able to run Source engine games like TF2 and L4D2 for the most part. I'm guessing the GTX 540m, 550, or 560m should be good for this? Let me know what you guys think I should get. Thanks.
This should be good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220997

Thanks guys. The first Newegg one seems more suitable. I don't see why I would need an i7 for gaming, so the i5 with the slightly faster graphics card seems to be the smarter choice. I've always wondered though, what does the 550m or 540m compare to with for example normal desktop graphic cards?

Adversely, you could build your own gaming laptop, although it's considerably more annoying than building a desktop PC. Or you could just custom order a laptop with the specific parts you want put in.

I think your best bet would be to go for something refurbished, otherwise you'll get stuck with crap hardware. Also you said above that you would only need an i5 for gaming. I'd like to note that the mobile i5 chips are dual cores with hyperthreading, not quads. So in my opinion the best laptop for your money is a refurb'd BST6, it's a tiny bit overbudget, but it's definitely worth the money over a GT540M and an i5.
