• PC randomly slows to a crawl and all applications crash?

Hi all, Ever since I've had my laptop, it was running a bit slow. Over time, this issue would happen: 1. My computer would slow down immensely, to the point where trying to do anything simply doesn't work. 2. Any application I have open would force close. 3. Windows Explorer would crash and not restart. 4. In Task Manager, I could see that taskhost.exe and two different svchost.exe's would be using large amounts of memory and CPU power. 5. Windows Error Reporting would pop up and also use large amounts of memory and CPU, and after it would close, my computer would go back to normal speed. From there I'd normally restart my computer (since I hadn't known that I could simply restart explorer.exe through Task Manager), which is quite annoying. Having had enough of this happening, I did some quick Google searches to find that a lot of people claim this can be caused by Malware, although I don't think this could be the case due to myself scanning my computer with Malewarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, and Norton weekly or bi-weekly. I doubt anyone else has this same issue, but I was hoping if someone had any idea what to do to prevent this?
Can you use speedfan/speccy to monitor the temperatures of your computer? it could be malware, but this seems more like a heating issue and the CPU throttling itself
Sounds like classic overheating issue, but could be anything.
I tested for heating issues with HWInfo, the average heat for pretty much all parts is around 30C - 40C and there aren't any spikes of any kind. This also only occurs on the desktop, and at seemingly random moments.
can you run cpuz to verify your cpu isnt throttling itself? also look for processes that are using a lot of cpu, or look for processes that are hogging hard drive resources
I'm not sure how I can tell if the CPU is throttling, but here a CPU-Z validation. What's noticeable is that the CPU frequency is 1198 and highlighted in red, so I'm assuming that's not good.
