Ignore the soundcard/network card, they're for hooking up my Xbox 360 and are simply cheap as fuck but functional.

Eventually, an appropriate PSU and 2X 6950 will be added to this.
Where do you need that Network card and sound card ?
The built in sound card and network card on your motherboard should be fine.

Network card provides an extra ethernet port so I can use my PC as a bridge, soundcard is the cheapest one I can find with SPDIF-IN. Either way, those components are irrelevant, thanks for the useless post.
What exactly are you going to be using this for?
looks like a gaming rig
go for a 2500k, and 4gb ram given you're only gaming
[editline]9th April 2011[/editline]
also why add 2 6950s, why not start with a 6970 and then add another

Thanks for being an asscrack.
And there's no idear in using your computer as a bridge, when you can simply get a cheap network switch. I can only see one port on that network card anyway.
And if this is for gaming, it's shit.
[editline]9th April 2011[/editline]
So don't fucking play as if you own this place, for you certainly have no credit in here what so ever.

I checked 2500Ks and from the reviews I've been reading they're more expensive and don't perform as well as the 1090t? There is also the fact I hear that the 1090t overclocks readily.
6950s can be BIOS modded to pretty much become 6970s, saves me a bit of cash.

Motherboard already has an Ethernet port, clever clogs.
Cheap network card: £2
Cheap switch: £6
My PC will always be on if my Xbox is on so it being a switch doesn't matter.
And what is shit about it? Thanks again for another useless post.

Uh, no. Also, it's the 2500K for a reason.
Seriously do what Armotekma says.

Also stop being an asshole; people are trying to help you.

All the gaming benches I've read say the 1090T matches/outperforms when OC'd, can you show me otherwise?

Oh and here's one of the 1090t being beat by an X4.

Just get out already. The 1090t is shit for the price, especially in games. The 2500K kicks it's ass, and overclock to the same clock with the fucking stock cooler. The 1090t will NOT hit 4GHz on stock.
And the 6950's won't unlock anymore, though give it a shot.

Implying I run stock coolers.
The 2500K is £20 more, is the 'KICK ASS' that much to be worth that amount of money? Also take into account Intel motherboards seem to be more expensive in general too.
2500k>1090T and all other x6. Sorry but the 2500K is superior even down 2 cores.
And 99% chance you won't unlock the 6950.
Also, Intel is more expensive for a reason. MORE PERFORMANCE.
Here. If you go with the 1090t now that you can see it's clearly beaten everywhere, then well, you're a moron.

That wasn't the question, and why aren't the 6950s unlocking now?
That wasn't the question, and why aren't the 6950s unlocking now?
Read above edit.
AMD revised the BIOS. No more unlocking into 6970's.

Yes, also it's 155 pounds on Amazon.
Also, if you think Intel mobos are more expensive, then why did you choose a Crosshair IV?
That wasn't the question, and why aren't the 6950s unlocking now?
AMD got tired of people getting a 6970 for cheap, so they made a second revision
2500K is so much better than the 955 and especially the 1090t - it's so worth the extra money
also why are you bringing overclocking into this do you realize you can take the 2500K to 4.7+ with a decent cooler
Bought the 1090t as a I5 2500K based build cost £100 more overall, a price I just can't justify, nor afford at the moment.
why would you get a 6 core when you have no use for it

Quite clearly half the ram there, and a motherboard that is not as good as the one I originally listed.
what do you need 8gb of ram for
what do you need 8gb of ram for
Just in case.
ok let's see
GD65
SATA6? yes
USB3? yes
PCI-E slots? 2
Crosshair
SATA6? yes
USB3? yes
PCI-E slots? 3 usable for multi-GPU
so basically you paid 50 euro extra for a significant drop in gaming performance, but you get another PCI-E slot, so you even further bottleneck your processor when you add your third 6950 in there, assuming you'll even go multi-GPU, that is
i mean, that's why you chose that motherboard, right?
Wow, I hate fuckin idiots that come here, make a thread asking if it's a good build then completely ignore our advice and do what they want. It grinds my gears.
Congratulations.
Congratulations, you've got yourself a certificate of extreme dumbness!
You're all just mad I built the PC that appealed to be at the price that appealed to me with the features that appealed to me, instead of the one you want.
INB4 HURR U ASKED N STUFF, I asked is this an OK build, all I got was a shitload of Intel elitism, GG bros.
Actually you asked if it was okay, and we all told you it was shit, and offered you a better alternative.
Also, at a price that appealed to you? Armotekma made you a great build for 50 pounds less.
You just decided go shut your ears and go "Hurr durr durr more cores so it must be better".
[editline]10th April 2011[/editline]
Seriously why did you even make this thread if you were just going to ignore everything we said.

I'm pretty sure half this section is on AMD CPUs, and most of the builds I've recommended has been AMD based. Problem is, Sandy Bridge is simply the best choice right now for medium budget builds. You seem like Intel raped and murdered your family, and if they did, I'm totally okay with you not buying them, but this was simply fanboyism.
For the record, I planned to use an AMD P II x4 955 for my build, but then I saw that the i5 2500 wasn't much more expensive, yet it offered much better performance. The AMD phenom II was a very good choice some months ago, but AMD didn't drop the prices after the Sandy Bridge launch, and therefore it's no longer that.
One of the reasons I picked AMD was also the fact I actually have a chance of upgrading to Bulldozer when it comes out, whereas Intel seem to fart out another socket every week. If I bought a sandybridge, that motherboard has no upgradability.
