The problem was it was buggy, and I think it caused them development stress trying to get it all work. So they basically scraped it, started again with a C++ client, which is what this is. It actually runs like a modern game now.

This... actually looks pretty good. I might just have to pick this up again.
It's too bad that, although it's graphically impressive, server ticks are still slow and input/controls remain dreadful because of hardcoded server limitations.
It's too bad that, although it's graphically impressive, server ticks are still slow and input/controls remain dreadful because of hardcoded server limitations.
it isn't nearly as bad, at least, and they said they'll update the tickrate at some point in the future, who knows when that'll be though.
It's such a shame how HTML5 didn't work out at all.
It is, but the hedged their bets onto a technology which (at the time) wasn't quite mature enough to handle it. I still think it's super cool Jagex even tried though. I think this is the most optimal solution. Having stuff in browser isn't the best solution, especially when your game has a 8gb cache of data.
The new graphics look quite nice, but there is a charm to those single digit polygon models that this will never be able to capture

again?
again?
Yeah but this time it's worth it.
It actually looks really pretty. It will certainly pull the new generation in, who are used to things looking like AAA Skylanders. But it's not the Runescape I grew up with. It feels to foreign to me. I'd probably feel uncomfortable playing it.
This game is an alternate reality about yourself, from childhood to adulthood. Except now life is boring.
Well looks like I'm going to have to find some money to try this again. white:shake: Looking for boyfrienddd XOXO

A friend of mine from school said that mith scimmys are gonna be rising in price so you may end up getting ripped off.
This game is an alternate reality about yourself, from childhood to adulthood. Except now life is boring.
You made my heart cry. I will never be able to play this game like I did as my account got hacked. And I don't remember enough about it to get it back
After the introduction of Old School runescape i think they sort of justified the subscription money of 9 euro a month. RS3 for the main grinding and after i get bored of that i just mess around in OSRS.
OH GOD NO MY POTATO CANT RUN THE GRAPHICS NOW
[t]http://a.pomf.cat/yukvtg.png[/t] > [t]http://a.pomf.cat/uolzxi.png[/t] I can't imagine how earth shaking such a basic change as increasing draw distance must feel to people when so much content has been masked out of context for so long and the trailer says the performance was increased? wow
It's a great feeling, actually. Makes the game feel more modern in terms of graphics.
God damn, this has certainly changed from the last time I played it in an internet cafe when that was a thing in the early 2000's. I wonder if I could find my log in details somehow...

Not sure if it would make me like it any more though if the combat is still clicking on an enemy and watching a super awkward turn based battle play out though
and the trailer says the performance was increased? wow
yea, java is a piece of shit when it comes to pretty much everything. I run constant 60 with nxt and ultra settings while I would be chugging along in many areas at around 30-40 with the old client on ultra. [editline]19th April 2016[/editline]
so it's definitely a step up. Not sure if it would make me like it any more though if the combat is still clicking on an enemy and watching a super awkward turn based battle play out though
combat is a bit less boring considering you have abilities now. you can automate pretty much all of them, which is what everyone does outside of late-game bossing and raids, but it does spice things up a bit and I enjoy it a ton better than the runescape combat that came before it.
this rune is not a home This is not the scape I know
I feel like the only reason people played it was because it had bad graphics and used web technologies so you could play it at school or on your mum's computer that she won't let you put games on because they'll slow it down or give it viruses The unfathomable grinding was never fun
from seeing this I found out that there's Runescape classic for android, and it works beautifully
