Hey there Facepunch. I'm beginning to choose parts for my next gaming rig. I want it to be pretty decently powerful, but I'm afraid I'm a bit behind on my knowledge of hardware. I don't want to go buying the wrong types of parts or parts that may be less powerful than I'd like. So I'm here to ask you for your suggestions. I'm going to have roughly a $900 budget. The main things I would like to know about are the CPU, GPU, and MoBo. I think I have everything else covered. I would like something fast and powerful as I plan on playing a lot of Arma 2 in the near future with this rig. Thanks for your help!
Do you need a monitor, keyboard, etc?
No. I have my old monitor which I'm still satisfied with. I have my keyboard and mouse and speakers and all else. I just have to build a new tower. I'm still in the process of deciding on which case I want. I just need help on the things I listed above and making sure they are compatible with each other and are powerful enough. I wanted a higher end CPU but something not too expensive. I wanted a quad-core with around 3.0-3.4 ghz I think.

Switch out the case with any one you want, I just used the HAF as a price measurement thing. It's a little over your budget.

The Athlon is near to what you want. The 5770 would do fine on most games.
Thank you. That's a very good starting point for me. This answers quite a few questions.
Wait, you can re-use some stuff from your computer like the optical drive right?
Yes. There are a couple parts I can still re-use. Such as my dual-Layer dvd drive, my geforce 9800 gtx, and my 850W PSU. That's about all I'll be re-using.
Then you don't need that PSU in the wishlist.
You can also replace that CPU in the withlist with this.
