See title. I'm currently using AVG Free and not experiencing any problems, but since I'm told to update to the latest version I figured I might as well see if I can find an alternative. I'm curious as to what other people recommend and if they can persuade me to switch to something else.

From the most recent tests that I've read, if you still want a free AV, Avast is ratest highest, and has a great, easy to follow UI. It has caught the most threats, is much better than many other pay anti-virus products on friends and relatives computer's I have installed it on.
Avast Free Download: http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html?part=dl-85737&subj=dl&tag=button
However, if you want to pay for an AV I've heard nothing but good things about Nod32
Mse
I use Microsoft Security Essentials, with threatfire. Seems to work well enough.
In my opinion Avast is very good.
Avast and Malwarebytes. Avast for day-to-day shit, malwarebytes for if you think you have a virus.
I'm using AVG Currently, but on older machines I use ClamAV.
I've been using Avast for a few years with no trouble.
Little Tally:
Avast: 4
MSE: 2
AVG: 1
Anybody else?
Comodo works perfectly and is entirely free if you don't need "professional" support. All you have to do is teach it your commonly used programs for the first few days at most.
MSE, Avast
Don't use Comodo.
The reason I say this is because Comodo blocked nothing from getting on my computer, whereas both MSE and Avast did. Also tested it with some programs, didn't work still.

Expect MisterMooth to come along and possibly attempt to educate you if he can be bothered. But Comodo hasn't let anything through as far as I can see. It would only do that when on a shit setting.
"Buy Norton bitch, its teh great3st av evar!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!one!"
In all seriousness though I use AVG and haven't gotten a virus in a year or two.
Comodo is great if you aren't an idiot.
Avast.
Personally, I use Avira. Seems to give a thorough scan.
AVG Free. But if you download alot of linux distros use Avira Antivir cause AVG thinks every crack is a virus.
I've been using MSE. Though with what you guys say i might go with Avast!
Avast! is a blast!
I prefer MSE.
MSE is very quite
MSE does the job perfectly fine.
Comodo.
I'd say AVG.
I use Avira Antivir and works fine.
However i read (on here i think) that comodo is the best free antivirus because of the way it detects viruses, were the normal ones use a database of evil signatures to detect malware comodo (and a few others) use a diffrent system.
Il see if i can find the link
I did like MSE, until it said I was a fraudster and now I apparently have an illegal version of windows, even though I haven't got the black desktop.
